We love Kimber Martial Arts. My 6 year old son started classes in the end of April. I was hesitant about him doing extracurricular type activities because he's on the spectrum and I didn't know how well he would handle a new place, new routine, a uniform, loud noises, people touching him etc. His OT thought it would be good for his core strength and gross motor skills and his ST said it would give him an opportunity to practice social skills and his language skills in a spontaneous setting. He did really well in the initial class and he loves it. We found out the sensi's have special education training. Ms. Terri in particular has special education experience in the public school system and used to be a Montessori teacher as well. The owner informed me that all of their workouts are based on a program called brain gym which is really good for a lot.of the sensory issues people with ASD deal with. They worked with us on payment until I could get my son's FES-UA scholarship (formerly Gardiner) set up to help pay for classes. All of the instructors have been amazing and I don't think we could have asked for a better experience. I highly recommend Kimber Martial Arts. I'm so glad my son asked to do this and that his therapists encouraged us to try it. We've seen a lot of improvement in his social skills and overall behavior since he began and I love that each week they focus on things like respect, responsibility, team work and much more. It has helped tremendously.

Taking martial arts classes was WAY out of my comfort zone! I wanted to try something new, stay in shape and learn a how to defend myself if need be. The staff has made this such a safe space for me to learn and grow! I’m loving my experience here! If you’ve been thinking about giving it a shot, just do it. You won’t regret it!

When searching for a place to teach you how to protect yourself, that’s not all what it’s about. Your also looking for a friendly community that accepts people with open arms regardless of background. What makes Kimber Martial Arts so special is not only do they accept Young and Old, they also have other programs to help people with disabilities. At Kimber Martial Arts difference doesn’t matter, anyone can become a Black Belt with perseverance and discipline! Personally as a 2nd Degree Junior Black Belt at Kimber Martial Arts, I have been training here for almost 6 years and not only did I learn how to defend myself, I also learned how to be a better person. I learned how to put important things first, Think Positively, Be Aware of myself at all times, Knowing what I want and exactly how to do it, Treat others how you would like to be treated, and so much more.

My 9 year old daughter started here a month ago. Not only was she welcomed with open arms here, but I can already see a difference in how she carries herself. I wish I would have got her in this sooner.

Hello! Thank you for inquiring about our programs! We teach a blended style based on the philosophy of Bruce Lee called American Karate. You will see elements of Japanese, Korean, and Chinese martial arts in our teaching.
