Really cool store with a very knowledgeable owner. If you want it foe your vinyl collection, they probably have it.

I enjoyed looking at this man’s nice collection, but I will say that everything is insanely overpriced. I’ve been collecting since I was 12 year old (I’m 28 now), and have purchased some of the same records in amazing condition, only he charges 2-3 times what it’s actually worth. Of course, certain records can cost a pretty penny, but even original US Beatles pressings he was charging 50-60 dollars for when I myself have purchased same release in same condition for $15-$25! The Byrds “Notorious Byrd Brothers” was listed for about 50+ bucks and I have the same first press in VG+ condition for 20 bucks. Owner is very nice, but I think he tries to use the fact that he has a “strict grading” system and huge collection as an excuse to charge extremely high prices. He has original used Smashing Pumpkins CDs lifted for up to $25-30 when the same exact copy was on eBay for $3.99. It’s a shame because he’s very kind and seems to know a lot about music, but unfortunately there’s no reasoning with guys that have been doing this for that long. Hopefully one day he will check what these are actually worth, but I doubt it. I recommend checking it out to browse, but I personally wouldn’t shop here.

If you are looking to buy rare 1st press jazz records, do NOT go to this place. That old man will try to sell you a Blue Note (BN) as a 1st pressing, but the records aren't. I didn't have my I-Pad with me at the time to double-check before shelling out $1,000+ for the three (3) records he sold to me as 1st pressings that I found out after the fact clearly weren't after going to Discogs to research the labels and showing them to other well-respect record dealers, including Fred Cohen, owner of the Jazz Record Center in NYC. For example, Lee Morgan 'Cookin' came out in 1958...a true 1st pressing when BN was at West 63rd Street. John sold me the 1960 version with a 2nd press cover having West 61st Street instead of West 63rd St. on the back cover...and I have the pictures to prove it...a small, but VERY, important detail that can cost you hundreds of dollars. Everyone knows that's a 2nd pressing. But if you try to explain that to the owner, he just gets irritated and argumentative. And it was the same story with the Art Blakey he sold me. I didn't do my research while in the store because I TRUSTED HIM. Not anymore. So, if you're trying to buy rare jazz records from him, beware because he's just a dotard. He'll read this review and get angry, but facts are facts. And clearly after talking with other people, I'm not the only one who's had this experience. I just chalk it up as an L, and keep it moving...

This place is GREAT!! We have gone to many other stores all over NC and nothing compares. We do our research before purchasing or visiting shops which makes the entire experience better. John has always been very knowledgable and upfront …
