Roads are awful, bathrooms are disgusting, no maintenance, the state is racking in the money and doing nothing, trees need trimming.. And the booth is closed half the time. Very frustrated, we have been coming to Eighth Lake for 60 years .

Great campground. Stayed there for 10 days. The showers were old and not to clean but this will probably change in the future. It’s pretty quiet during the week and is overall not that busy.

Not for glampers only real campers no power . I prefer roughing it but the lake is absolutely beautiful and the sand covered bottom is delightful. The lake is very large and offers an awesome paddle trail for canoe or kayaking!

Beautiful, rustic campground. Very quiet due to no electric. Great place for down time. If you camp here, take the trail that starts at the park and leads to Bug Lake. It's a easy and beautiful hike.

Yes
Not in the campground no. There are trails to hike from this campground to black bear mt or to bug lake. In the winter you could get back there on the roads or trails on anything else though
Yes. We caught quite a few fish from shore. Some days are much better than others and different bait for different times
Yuppers! Like everyone else said $2 a bag. No fire wood this year though. No bathhouse remodel either 😔
Not at Eighth Lake. My husband has camped at Eighth Lake his entire life, and I have joined him for the past 10+ years. We have never had a bear problem, we are just smart with how we handle food. We always keep our coolers and food inside the vehicle at night with blankets over them. Limeklin I think does, because they have a bad bear trail through their site?
If you have a boat and are on the seventh lake side you can go to the sand bar and get service there. Verizon
I know when i camped at Eighth lake, i dont remember which site I was at but there was a small beach nearby
No electrical for any sites. Generator hours are pretty standard for DEC campgrounds, 9am-11am and 4pm-7pm https://www.dec.ny.gov/docs/permits_ej_operations_pdf/eighthlake2016.pdf
There are also two other lakes you can hike to from 8th lake campground eagle and bug lakes. There were canoes left along both lakes with nobody around. Great wilderness area.
