We had a wonderful experience adopting from Southern California Siamese Rescue. The dispersed band of volunteers and fosters who make this organization possible were quick to respond and professional in their communications. Their vetting process is thorough, so expect lots of questions about your situation and be ready with non-family references who know what a caring cat parent you are! After we interviewed, were approved, and had a chance to ask all of our questions about the cat, we asked that she be put into pending status until we met her. That request was kindly honored. The cat’s foster offered to drive her 45 minutes to meet us in our home if that was more convenient for us. (!!!) We opted to meet her in her home to get a better sense of her personality and very quickly confirmed our intention to adopt. A handful of minutes later, we were bringing our cat home, complete with prior records, the toys she loved, and the food she was used to. I can’t say enough good things about this organization and its people. This was a wonderful process, even though it’s different from the typical process when a shelter has a physical location. I highly recommend adopting though these folks and I hope you have the high quality experience we did.

I read the other negative reviews on here and thought they must be a fluke, but after dealing with this organization, I can assure you that they are 100 percent accurate. Never have I had such a terrible and frustrating experience trying to adopt a pet. My girlfriend and I saw a cat on their website that we loved, so we filled out an application, which included putting down two references who were contacted and sent a lengthy questionnaire about what kind of pet owners they thought we would be. After a week or so of emailing back and forth with the woman who runs the organization and receiving extremely short, terse responses, we were finally contacted for a 1 hour long phone interview. Yes that's right, 1 hour long. I've had job interviews that were shorter. We were slightly annoyed, but figured it would be worth it if it meant we would get the cat. After finally finishing the interview and being approved to adopt, we were notified that the cat we had wanted so badly in the first place was already going to be adopted by someone else. We were disappointed, but we decided to keep our heads up and hope that another cat would appear on the site in the next few days that sparked our interest. Lo and behold, by what we thought was some miracle, we woke up the next day and saw two adorable kittens that had just been posted on the site. We eagerly emailed the woman who runs the organization and told her we'd love to meet the kittens. Fast forward a couple days later, and I receive a call from the kitens' foster mom, who wants to grill me even more about what kind of cat owner I am. I mentioned that my girlfriend has slight cat allergies, so we wanted to wait a few days to let her adjust before letting the kittens have access to our bedroom. This, apparently, was a huge turn off for the foster mom, and she decided that she didn't want the kittens to be adopted by us because cat owners are never supposed to have allergies, I guess. Ridiculous. So in conclusion, if you're trying to adopt a cat, I'd recommend going ANYWHERE but this place. There are plenty of beautiful Siamese cats in other shelters (we eventually found one at Michelson Found Animals Adopt & Shop, which I highly recommend), so there is no need to deal with this organization and be put through the emotional wringer that my girlfriend and I were if you want to adopt a Siamese.

I don’t like giving reviews in general but when you give out your information including all other requested references to receive a reply of “ok” it’s hard not to do this. I did not once receive a call or an email of approval or disapproval considering I gave them all the information they provided and more. Just don’t waste your time with them. Extremely unprofessional. I just really hope the poor cats are in good hands.

@katelynncastillo maybe her cat died. when people say they lost a pet sometimes they mean it died. that could be why she is looking for a new one
