Meeting with friends this morning at Fante’s Coffee. My first time since I do not drink coffee, but the Chai Latte Tea was great there’s many different coffees and teas to choose from and sweets to have with them. I noticed that there was a lunch menu. The smell of the coffee inside was delightful. The place was sunny and very comfortable inside and out. We choose to sit outside on the patio. A friend of ours that passed last year worked there and they graciously honored him in several ways. The Cadillac coffee roasters were big and beautiful as we toured the roasting room. A pleasant surprise! I would have no problem going again for more Latte and enjoying the atmosphere.

Superb place, simply superb. Notwithstanding the barista who was in a bad mood and lacked friendly customer service skills, the coffee is out of this world. The presentation is beautiful and the atmosphere is exactly what you want a coffee house to have - relaxed and inviting.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your overall experience.The full page article in the Courier Journal was a stellar recap of 43 years of service to the coffee industry very well written as well. When I designed Fantes Coffee I drew from many years of traveling the country visiting the best in class coffeehouse in every city taking pictures and recording their best practices. Once I started to pick a location for my coffeehouse it was chosen carefully and every detail including the beautiful parkside view, lots of parking at the door, comfortable soft seating and solid surface table tops, lots of windows for plenty of natural light. Every detail was planned to provide a warm welcoming home like atmosphere for our guests to relax in a clean comfortable safe environment to enjoy our inhouse fresh roasted coffee. Our green coffee selection is chosen just as carefully and roasted to the perfect roast color sweet spot then color validated by using a light spectrometer and cross referencing the exact SCA color tile. This not only validates exact color it also assures an extreme degree of roast consistency. Once the coffee is ready to brew, we grind it fresh to order and we again use the SCA Gold Cup Brewing Standards to brew our coffee to assure they graph in the center of the optimum balance window in the brewing chart . This again is validated using Science and lab equipment a TDS meter that measures the Total Dissolved Solids Parts Per Million extracted, timed , turbulence checked and temperature checked. This process validates perfectly brewed coffee and 25% total dissolved solids extraction ratio when plotted on the graph . We use the proper water to coffee ratios and again we measure the time temperature and turbulence to assure perfect coffee every time. Your coffee was intentionally made strong as you ordered it that way, Truly we have our coffee shots dialed in to provide perfectly balanced coffee that is smooth and not bitter at all. All of those steps are taken for the end result being what we call "Really Good Coffee" We support local business throughout all of our product categories from cold beverage offerings to our baked goods that are ordered locally from some really great companies including a couple of local bakeries.Unfortunately all high quality items including fresh baked goods and premium coffee are a bit more expensive these days especially in today's economic climate. Our bagel's I am proud to say are made fresh for us from the Payne Street Bakehouse right down the street from our coffeehouse. They have received wide and broad acceptance as some of the very best Bagels in Louisville .We currently provide a couple of different types of fresh garden salads and a couple of different types of vegetarian friendly soups, occasionally a white bean chili that's a vegetarian recipe. In the past we did provide an in house fresh made black bean burger on a english muffin with lots of condiment options lettuce pickle onion tomato. They were on the menu for 3 years and we simply did not sell enough to keep making them. Because of your request we may add a garden burger back to the menu. The building (a house), the open views to the park, and the comfy furniture is welcoming. I enjoy the coffee. Since I like strong latte, I asked for two shots. It turned out it was to strong. The pastries are good, but a little pricy for my stingy budget. I was alittle disapointed with the small baggel, and also that they don't have a vegetarian sandwish in the menu. I can come back for more coffee and the environment.
