I've been getting my hair cut at By Design for almost 2 years now. This is honestly one of maybe two places in my life I've felt totally comfortable with both the atmosphere of the salon and the quality of the cut. No reason I'd go anywhere else.

I am still pretty new to coming here but William sure makes me feel right at home each time. The haircut is always top notch and the conversation during is also great and appreciated. His attention to your personal styling and previous concerns is amazing. I am almost agoraphobic these days about new places and people so a public review is huge for me but I felt it was important to make sure to review a great local business. Plus he will flat out tell you if an idea you have is a bit misguided. Thus saving you from a few weeks of "oh lord this looks awful" situations.

Very strange interaction. Came in for an appointment off a referral, got weird right after William asked what I wanted to do for the cut. I started to explain how I was considering a complete shave next time (perhaps that would take some pressure off the current cut) when he interrupted to explain that I should buzz myself or else he would charge me extra for the shave appointment. Then we got back to what I wanted for today and I began to say the same basic thing I tell everyone who cuts my hair - that they are the expert in this area (not me) and that I trust them to make me look good (which has worked great with 6 or so barbers over the past 7 years). William inserted himself here again interrupting and asking details about haircutting that are not familiar to me. We did this a couple more times until he kindly showed me the way out, all these events taking place over 90 seconds or so. End result was that I did not get my hair cut and some awkward confusion. Went to a different shop the next day, said the same basic thing (that I trust them to do a good job) and got a great cut.
