We reserved the South Mountain family site and it was amazing. Very clean facilities including cooktops, BBQ, sinks and drinking water. Garbage and recycling cans were also provided. There was volleyball, horseshoes, basketball, and a play structure for the kiddos. Beautiful setting with parking and restrooms nearby. Our park hosts were friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend this place.

The most quiet spot available on the south side of the mountain. So many fuzzy trees! Wonderfully maintained trails with fantastic Nature all around. Best hour of your life you'll ever spend walking in the woods. And Ewoks too!

this was a great park. was there recently and everything was good. super kid and pet friendly. everything worked out pretty well. the only thing i would prefer is if the grass was cut. the grass was a little too tall but other than that, it was nice.

Came to this place a couple of weeks ago. Beautiful area, fish viewing area is cool for kids. Portion of trail is closed due to storm damage. Be aware that this place is close to a gun/shooting range and the shotgun(?) blasts were so loud that it spooked my dogs. Made what should have been a quiet, peaceful walk in the woods anything but. Also, there was some sort of proud boys rally in one of the picnic areas, felt pretty sketched out by the time we left.

Hi Catherine, The fee is either $5 per day or $30 for a year pass to the park.
Usually the rec area closes at sunset.
Yes it is. Was there this past Thursday, gates are open.
It appears there is a spot on the website to reserve. https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/234075
Yes, but you would have to look it up this time of year, being vacation and all. The place is soooooo beautiful though, you could always get a room close by, and "day camp" all day during park hours!
