Horrible leadership at the rec level. My daughter has played for a recreational team for the last 2 years. This year the rec director unilaterally decided our 16-year-old daughter can’t play with her 17/18 coed team because she’s too young, even though she played with the same age group and team since she was 14. Somehow okay then, but not now? And how does this guy notify us? He doesn’t. No communication from Rush office or the rec director at all until we contacted him. We found out because my daughter’s old coach said she noticed our daughter wasn’t on her roster for some reason. She also told us the rec director made her change her team’s name and would not allow her to keep the old name. When we talked to the director, he has no other excuse or reason for this change, one that doesn’t allow our daughter to play with her old team, other than it’s his way and he’s decided. It’s a rec team…as in not club. Our daughter has a team and a coach she has played with for 2 years and wanted to finish out with them. Seems reasonable. Not only did he not tell us anything before we contacted him, but because he made her old team change their team name he told us her old team doesn’t exist anymore. Further, their roster is now full, so he said our daughter is not going to get any playing time anyway. This is the rec director’s statements to us via email. The Rush leadership, on the rec side at least, is concerning, and seems uncaring and manipulative to me and thus this review. I’d avoid Rush on the rec side, not a good organization unless you’re looking for frustration and to be discounted. Update: the rec director just emailed us. The team he put our child on against her decision doesn’t even have a coach. And it only has 13 players so it likely they won’t have a full team for each game. This guys needs to go away…

Rush is extremely overpriced and there is nothing to show for it. Despite the cost, you and other parents will be doing absolutely everything. If you can't raise enough volunteers they will boot your child from the league and keep your money. The delusional egghead administrators have decided that teams must be very small, and they modify the rules of the game to facilitate this. This policy ensures that they always need/demand more coaches than they can get, which completely cancels out the benefit they idiotically assume they are obtaining. (Ensuring that your child will receive increased attention from an unmotivated and unqualified coach amidst a handful of unmotivated and unskilled players is worse than useless.) A small fraction of the teams do have effective coaches, but your child won't be on one of those because they're always full of returning players. Instead they will be dumped into the bottom of the barrel (in terms of players, parents and volunteers) to serve as canon fodder. It's more than likely that their coaches and teammates will have nothing to offer them, and they will experience nothing but mediocrity and defeat. Some parents foolishly assume that this builds character. Don't be that parent. Even if you and your child make it through the churn of disillusioned and disaffected parents and players to tough it out for another season, any new friends they made probably won't. Of course, all this assumes you can figure out how to register your child in the first place. You'll probably have to got to the office in person because the website is terrible beyond words. Sadly, I don't know of any alternatives in Boise.

My daughters team has 13 players and only 5 play at once in games. She doesn’t get adequate playing time , not worth the price, find a league that’s better organized.

Great soccer club with the best coaches willing to work hard to teach kids how to become the best players.
