We made a passport appointment six weeks in advance waking up at 5a to book the appointment for our two young boys getting their first passports. When the appointment day came we had all our forms filled out pictures taken and showed up at 820a. The first appointment spot was 830a and we were first on line with that appointment time. We were in and out in 18 min. Raymond helped and and he was excellent! Thank you for getting us in and out!

Clean office we, staff helpful, they can take you're photo there, they will mail it out for you and give you tracking info. More organized than other passport places!

Yes, this office can do photos. If getting a new passport, you'll need the following types of documents: 1. Proof of Citizenship (and a photocopy) 2. Proof of Identification (and a photocopy) 3. Completed Application for Passport (Form DS-11); You can this ahead of time online (travel.state.gov) and print it out, or fill out the form at the office. Cost will depend on whether you need to expedite the process or not. If you are renewing, you will need to do this by mail More specifics and specifics will be found at travel.state.gov
Updated 3/26/21 Citrus Heights PO is open 7 days a week for Passports. Yes. Be prepared to wait, bring snacks and water. And there are no bathrooms available at the West Sacramento site. You need two, one for the application and one for the passport. If you're a Costco member, it's really cheap.

Its about 4-6 weeks for an average wait. If you pay to rush it could be done in 2-3 weeks.
Fast forward to 09/16/22, this location now requires appointments. Yes, West Sacramento PO Passport Office is also open on Monday to Saturday and no appointment necessary. But be patient since usually there's a wait. They don't have any amenities, such as bathrooms or food court. So eat before and use bathroom prior to coming in, unless your fasting that day and or have a strong bladder, then you're golden!
