THE place to wind down. Cute cabins. The cabins have no TV, no phones, and no WiFi. The lodge has all those things. Makes you relax. The food is exceptional. Stable breakfast cooked to order. The dinner is to die for. I have never had a bad meal. The owners are friendly and accommodating. Don't forget to have a cocktail you will remember and want another one. Usually have to make reservations about a year in advance, that's how good it is.

This was my first cabin in the woods adventure. The first view of the property is breathtaking. Nestled down a short winding road, you feel as though you've entered another world. The staff were friendly and helpful, we got checked into our stand alone one room cabin right away. The cabin was super cute and rustic but very comfortable with cozy blankets on the bed and extra pillows. There is a crystal clear creek running through the property that you can wade in and if you follow the trail to the end of the property there is a stunning waterfall. This place is truly a gem! And the food! The first night we had the Prime Rib and flank steak entrees. It was a good size portion and normally I don't eat a large serving of meat but it was so good, I gobbled it up. They also have a nice selection of wines available. If you're looking for a place that makes you feel special, then this is the whole package.

I loved the location, trails, beautiful scenery, and lots of water features, some swimmable. The food was well-above average and plentiful. I did not find the hosts especially dog-friendly, even though they advertised themselves that way. You do not have the option to eat outside with your dogs, so I left mine tied up (in the designated dog area). One of the dogs made some noise (whining, not barking), I was asked to leave the dining table and put the dogs somewhere else (in the car, when it was 100˚ that day? In the cabin, where they were not allowed on the furniture? Tied to a tree with a short leash?). The next morning, I brought them back to the tie-up at breakfast (there were no people sitting nearby) and got a snarky comment from the owner ("Brought those dogs back, eh?"). Frustrating and stressful, to say the least. I would like to return to the area, but will stay somewhere else. Note that the cabin price covers only 2 adults and 2 meals/day; kids (and dogs) cost extra, like $65/day per kid extra, so be aware of all the costs before you book. The teenagers I was with greatly enjoyed the ping pong table, the nightly campfire with s'mores fixings provided, and the opportunity to socialize with other guests, as well as the option to rent kayaks and SUPs which the lodge delivered to Salmon Lake for us. One night there was a bad guitarist performing and another night there was a fabulous guitarist. Both played for about 4 hours straight, so it was a mixed bag of entertainment. Wonderful lakes nearby, some at hiking distance (Lily Lake, Long Lake), and several larger ones a short drive away (Gold Lake, Salmon Lake, Sardine Lake).

Great experience, awesome places to bring kids, as there is all kind of activities and accommodations for them. The creek running through the property is SO refreshing to dip into the swimming holes, and there are ankle-deep areas perfect for the tykes! It's also a great jumping-off point for back-packing the region and is a welcome sight when returning from a few nights out in the wilderness (parking for Smith Lake and all the other trails is an 1/8th mile away). We were treated like royalty by Sara at the desk and Bret the owner, and ate, drank, and slept in fine comfort- upgraded from lodge to cabin at no charge and took the difference and tipped the staff- they deserved it. Highly recommend, and I don't put out false reviews...check out my other ones here, on Yelp, and Trip Advisor.
