Beautiful camp sites nice and secluded. Clean vaulted toilets. Only complaint is that they need more than one toilet per campsite areas.

During the week we almost had the lake to ourselves. The shallow swimming area was a nice spot for my grandsons to practice with The kayaks.

The beach water was clear. Campgrounds are well maintained. There also a 120/240 v ac outlet for each campsite. If you have an RV or an electric car it would be helpful to charge overnight. The trials are short and they go along the lake. Didn't see much wildlife except for rabbits.

Great "primitive" camping with electricity! Other reviews mentioned the power boxes were quite a ways from the sites, very true. Site 9 required 100 ft extension cord and site 11 required 50 ft. Otherwise, beautiful beach for swimming, nice trail from campground to beach. Would definitely go back!

Yes you can. Dog has to be on a 6 ft. leash when down by beach. Make sure your dog has it's tags.
You can use a designated picnic area where metal barbeque stands are placed between the lake and parking. I am guessing portable burners shouldn't be a problem in that area.
Yes, the dark sky area is open all night. The park is open from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm.
I believe as long as you have a park pass it's open 7 nights a week
No
You don't have to camp to go to the park. The star gazing it the first right turn after entering the park. There is a state park fee to get in unless you have a state park pass. There is also a beach and boat launch each in sepreat areas.
Yes they do have some nice trails. The whole area including the camping area is very woodsy and keeps getting more woodsy over the years. If you camp bring a lawnmower lol. We got a site earlier this year 2019 and the grass was tall!
There is nothing to prohibit shoreline fishing. There is even at least one campsite that is right on the water. There are no kayak right rentals at the state park. I'd be shocked if there was even anything like that nearby. Lake Hudson is not exactly a hopping state park. It is one of the quietest and least utilized in the state.
You can get your passport at any secretary of state office or at the park headquarters
A geographic coordinate system...😳
Not at lake Hudson, but there are areas accessible for hunting.
Not if you're focused on what matters.
End of April
Just stayed there last week. Several sites had 2 dogs, so I believe you are fine. As mentioned, always on leash and never unattended. Lots of raccoons in the camping area so just be careful they don't get after them.
There's a sky park at the pavilion too. Meant for stuff like that
Sadly they don't have flushable toilets or showers it's pretty rustic they do have electricity but some of the electrical boxes will require extension cords but your not back to back with other campers even though they do have 2 sites were you are back to back if you would like to camp with other family or friends its a great place to fish and it has a bigger beach area also great for Star gazing
There is a main beach and multiple pavilions around the park.
No
Not bad for the price, but it's a little more rustic than anything with electric.
I believe they are technically open all year around but there is no water. the season starts memorial week. Memorial day is Monday, May 25th this year.
You would call Hayes state park for info regarding lake Hudson hope this isnt to late for you to see this Hayes state park covers Hudson State Park property becareful coming in it is a dark sky campground use your flashlights and lights to see
As a matter of fact the house right beside the entrance usually has firewood.
Self check in using a phone the nearest ice is a gas station about 2-3 miles away from the park entrance
We did two kayaks and a canoe?
You can get in at any time
Usually pretty clear. Hardly any goose poop on shore. Sometimes if the wind is strong in a certain direction there can be seaweed. Bottom isn't mucky.
Check in at anytime checkout 1pm
Im not sure about that... I want to say they open at 8 but not sure only went there once for a camping
Yes but get there early
Yep been there multiple time and as long as it isn't a holiday weekend you can usually go in find a spot and fill out registration form at office and they will bring you your camp slip.
There's no horse power min. But no wake throughout the whole lake.
