As far as I know, Home Depot marks down lumber when particular boards are substandard for some reason (knot-holes, incorrectly sized, discolored, etc.) and the marked down prices can be great values. Usually, they put these marked down boards on display for quick sale on a single day each week (which varies by store) in the morning. The items usually sell out by noon.
