I like the Fingerlakes Goodwills. They offer discounts to all Healthcare workers, police, EMS in addition to veterans. This makes me shop there more frequently. I wished other GWs did this. I usually go to the Geneseo one as it's the closest for me. I've gotten to know the staff by first name basis. Went to Brockport and had a wonderful experience with the cashier. She took her time and wrapped all my items with care.

I have brought many items to the Macedon location. The last time I donated it was raining. The young man took my bag of clothing and proceeded to tear it open and dump the clothing in a full open bin getting soaked! Many of these items were costly and I was infuriated about the lack of concern. I’m not sure I will take anymore good items to this location.

Questions & Answers

Should any goodwill store be charging the same prices or more than what the item can be bought in a store that's new.

That's a very good question. Year after year the prices have gone up. Doesn't feel like goodwill any longer. Have a great weekend.

Consider looking at Rochester Housing Authority. ABVI is for visually impaired and blind assistance.

I heard there was a device on a stand you set in front of a book or newspaper that magnifies it and the government helps pay for it ,Is this true? My 94 yo mother is having difficulty reading that glasses don't help

It could be. I would encourage your mother to contact them for more info. There are prograns for visuslly impaired people over 55 yre of age through the NYS commission for the Blind. Im not the right person to ask though...start with the Association, they can give you more info.

Do you have books on tape with recorder?

ABVI does not normally have the players but they can help you get a player and sign up for the Talking Books program. I only know this because I am also a client.
