My Mother was given hardly the bare minimum treatment. her treatment was not working and nobody thought to change it. She did not get a PET scan before her surgery. All things that every other facility has told me are standard practice. The mistakes made by the surgeon lead to her suffering and death. Nobody wants to admit that because she was older and had an agressive cancer that she DID NOT MATTER. HER LIFE DID NOT MATTER TO ANYONE AT UPSTATE CANCER CENTER OR UPSTATE HOSPITAL. She was just a numer to put thru the system and collect hundreds of thousands of dollars. Not once did anyone actually try to give her a longer or better quality of life. Very sad.

I was diagnosed with endometrical terine cancer. I was treated by Dr. Attewola highly skilled gynoloncologist. It was a laproscopic surgery. All of the staff was amazing I was very impressed this hospital compares to Cornell University Hospital downstate in Manhattan where I used to live. My cancer was cured without any additional therapies whatsoever. The recovery went . smooth much less pain and suffering than I thought it would be. I put myself through alot of anxiety over this for nothing. Dont freak out like I did you are in good hands if you need oncologist /gynocologist

The staff at Upstate is great and knowledgeable. I love the care I receive as a cancer center patient. However, your wait times will be very long if you choose to get cancer care from Upstate. Like.. cancel anything else you have scheduled around your appointment because you’re going to be waiting for an offensively long amount of time. An hour wait is standard if you are meeting with your oncologist/hematologist. When I was in chemo, I had to see my doctor every two weeks. Sometimes I would leave crying because I was so upset with the amount of waiting I had to do and there was nothing I could do about it. I have had family members diagnosed since my diagnosis and I insist they don’t go to Upstate cancer center because of how badly they waste your time with the waiting when you’re seeing a doctor on flr 4. It’s too bad because it’s a great facility but I will likely switch to the other cancer treatment facility in Syracuse.

Yes they do, unfortunately I know this to be true.🧡

Can a husband accompany his stage 4 breast cancer wife to talk to the doctor when treatment is discussed with her? He was told he cannot be there because of covid and must rely on what his wife tells him. Thank you.

If it's during visiting hours you can be there; otherwise it's on the phone. You could ask the doctors to schedule a family meeting where you and children could be involved.

Do you specialize in stage 4 breast cancer? I currently go to the University of Chicago but I would like a second opinion and my son lives an hour away from there. Would you know how I would go about that?

That's a super complicated subject. Do some research but ONLY from legit sites like Roswell, Upstate, Mayo Clinic or actual academic/research papers. Cosmo magazine or Huff Post aren't reliable sources for scientific medical research publications.

Yes. I had cancer of the mouth. Dr Jessie Ryan was my surgeon....great man. Did wonderful job with my incisions and care. I use Dr Lacombe for my radiologist and Dr Naqvi as my Oncologist. I recommend these guys 110%. The teams they have are great. Nice bunch of workers in the cancer center. I highly suggest you give them a try.....you can decide for yourself. Good luck and God bless you. ! 🙏🙏Feel free to keep in touch.
