How can you close a YMCA downtown location, where this location was a source of community and healthy options for seniors, adults, young adults and traveler visiting the Rochester, NY area. This YMCA health center played a role on the impact on health for adults, seniors, and young adults alike. , The absence of access to this location is really really felt. The rasing cost of healthcare could be averted when all peoples and those who uses public transportation can continue to benefit from all the health benefits of this Carlson Center,. This is a shame that the management did not fight to ensure that the Rochester communities had access to this YMCA center.

This location is crooked all they do is exploit the inner city kids for funding that never sees the light of day in that location instead they fund the suburban ymca’s to give the already privileged white children a great experience All the directors left because of so many allegations under their belt what’s done in the dark will come to light with this crooked organization

This YMCA has been with me for over 20 years. I belonged to Embarcadero San Francisco YMCA and Carlson Metro YMCA evenly. Presently they are bending-over-backwards (thats you Laura K.) for me during Covid to get me re-established as the YMCA national passport program is suspended due to the pandemic.

Today was my first day back since opening on the 12th of October. The experience was weird.

Hello Thomas, I am a member, not an employee. The YMCA does have scholarships for low income people like us. You can get an application on line or at a YMCA. Generally th r really will be no initiation fee and a reduced monthly fee based on your income, expenses and needs. $30.00 per month is not unusual, it won,the go too much lower than that. But a full price membership is well over $100.00/month I believe. The lowest I have ever heard of is $20-$25/ month. You will need a copy of your DSS grant info. Good luck, one advantage of the Carlson YMCA is that there is a Strong Aqua P.T. satalite there so if you get transportation they will take you there. Make sure r of get an order for Aqua P.T. from you Doctor. Good luck. The people and staff are great as is the equipment and pool.
No appointment necessary for the Wellness Center (weights & cardio). But to gain access to the branch we ask that you use Y ROC Health Scan. You can learn more about the health scan at: https://rochesterymca.org/community-buildings/y-roc-health-scan/
