The counter person don't seem to know much about auto parts.they try to sell what the computer tells them even if you have the old part in front of them.

Why is it that when I go into a retail store to return an item that I purchased it's always a hassle to get them to refund my money it when I always give me something else or a gift card and when I paid cash for it

You get a gift card because you didn't show receipt. Because then anyone that buys from other stores can take to AutoZone. Keep your receipts. And they return money back to source. If paid by card, goes back to card, cash get cash back. Check, goes straight to bank. This is printed through out store.

And my question is since when do you get your store policies on a battery or an alternator that starts that works cannot be returned how's that possible so what are the return policies on purchasing a battery alternator
