Questions & Answers

Can I do an initial consultation in person, over the telephone, or through video consultation?

We offer all of these options for consultations. You will receive the same level of consultation whether you utilize telephone, video, or come to our office. All potential clients will meet with the attorney for their initial consultation. During your initial consultation we will review all relevant aspects of your family law, criminal law, or traffic matter.

How long will my case take?

How long any particular case takes, in many respects, is dependent upon how cooperative the parties are and the complexity of the issues. There are many factors that will influence the length of time you are involved in litigation, some we can control and many we cannot. To promise any certain length of time would be pure speculation. Be sure though, that staff at our office will keep you updated as your case progresses so that you are aware at all times as to the status of your particular case.

Can I make my opponent pay my attorney’s fees?

This is entirely contingent upon the circumstances of your case. We may ask the court to order the other party to reimburse you for your attorney’s fees and expenses, but such a request is not guaranteed to be granted by the court. It is within the judge’s discretion whether or not to grant such an award of attorney fees based on the facts of your individual case. Therefore, your initial retainer deposit is still required to begin your case and you are, ultimately, responsible for all attorney’s fees and expenses of litigation that are incurred. Any reimbursement or award by the court will be applied to your bill as the fees are received. Any excess will be refunded to you when the case is complete.

What do you charge?

The Roffmann Law Office LLC | Sep 20, 2021

The Roffmann Law Office, LLC requires that an initial retainer deposit be paid prior to beginning representation as set forth in our client agreement. The initial retainer deposit is an advance by the client for future legal services. You will be told the initial deposit amount (advanced fee) during your initial consultation. Our services are billed on an hourly rate as set forth in our client agreement. If there is a positive trust balance at the conclusion of your case, you will receive a refund of the remaining balance. Please note that a case does not conclude the day a judgment is entered, but when appeal deadlines and/or time-limits for post-trial motions have passed after the entry of the judgment. For most criminal, traffic, mediation matters, as well as some uncontested family law matters, a flat fee is charged rather than an hourly rate. Details can be discussed during your initial consultation. If you decide to arrange a consultation, please call (816) 781-5728.
