When they first arrived, we thought, "finally, someone is here to help!" Boy, were we wrong! There was no clear communication at all! Their nurse, kathy, would tell my sister and I completely different information about our grandmother's medications than she would discuss with our dad. They also told us they would accept my dad's DNR decision for her as next of kin, when come to find out, that's illegal if the patient is at home, and not in a hospital. We were told we would get a communication chart, and after a month, we finally found one ourselves. Kathy was very condescending every time she spoke to us. My family had the flu, and I couldn't get my 5 year old to take his Tamiflu, and kathy told me I should give it to him rectally! I'm pretty sure a hospice nurse isn't supposed to give medication administration advice to people who aren't their patients! (that's not how suppositories work, anyway!) I sent kathy a picture of a bruise on my grandma I was concerned about, and she then proceeded to tell me she witnessed my uncle hit my grandma TWO DAYS BEFORE and that she is a mandated reporter, and she can't see that happen again. I told her if she is a mandated reporter, she should've reported it. She's not there for my uncle. She is there for my grandma. I asked my sister (who was standing there when it happened) what she saw, and she said he smacked my grandma's hands down when she was hitting my sister (grandma is combative.). When kathy came to the house for a meeting WE ASKED FOR with the social worker, she sat at our table, and spoke AT us, and proceeded to tell us every way that WE were effing up, AND she full force SMACKED my dad in the arm and tried to convince us that was how my uncle hit my grandma! (Mind you, this woman bruises if you even look at her sideways.) Yet, not a single bruise on her arm. It took 4 days to get the results of a UA! When we decided to fire them, they had two different people try to take my grandma's walker, when we bought and paid for that a couple years prior to even hiring them! They refused to send the transfer papers to the new hospice until the following Monday, and then had the audacity to call the division of family services hotline number on us! Your nurse kathy needs to be hotlined! This company should be ashamed of themselves. I had two different nurses cringe when I mentioned my grandma being with this company! Also, and this has nothing to do with medical care capabilities, but if you are in someone's home, and you see MSNBC on their tv, the last thing that family wants to hear are your racist opinions on immigration, that you feel you need to share with a man who is just there to deliver furniture! I would like to say, their nurse, gwen, is lovely!! She should go to a better company, and this place should be shut down!
