Usually Safeways are nice, this particular one gives a different vibe. The staff is unfriendly and only answers if you have a fair skin tone (read white). Most staff had a condescending tone towards me when speaking. I had stopped going to this Safeway because of this reason and will continue to avoid it.

Terrible ONLINE experience last week!! DO NOT believe the Sale prices on the Safeway.com website. After I received my delivery, my receipt was way over what I had paid for when I clicked the "Place Order" button!! They FALSELY advertised that their Organic Strawberry Jam $3.99 and we were charged $5.49, SmartFood White Cheddar Popcorn [we were charged $11.58 for two (2) when Sale price was $10.00 for two], Rana Spinach Ravioli [we were charged $10.98 for two (2) when the Sale price was $7.98 for two (2)], Rana Tortellini Prosciutto [ we were charged $10.98 for two (2), when the Sale price we purchased these for on Safeway.com was $$7.98 for two (2)]. Then after I contacted Customer Service, they said that they have Disclaimers and policies in place before we purchase -- that gives them the right to change the prices any time. Well, to me, that's Lying, Cheating, Price Gouging and flat-out horrible business. When I click "Place Order", I expect the items on SALE to be billed at the SALE prices, and not the FULL price. Worse, when I checked the prices of these items again a few moments after I received my delivery, these items were ALL still being advertised at the SALE prices. Wow, Safeway...your business ethics are SHAMEFUL, detestable and downright FRAUDULENT. Online BUYERS beware. P.S. Btw, Safeway -- I just SHARED the link to my review above -- to all my friends on Facebook. Update: After a conversation with Customer Service, and the employee couldn't help me whatsoever, I asked to speak to a supervisor, and I was told that they'll call me back. I never got a call back from the Supervisor, was emailed by this Supervisor that she was issuing a refund of $5. It seems that they didn't want to talk with me, and simply dismiss me by issuing a $5 refund. Thank you, but the balance between what the amount I placed and the amount of the FINAL bill was about $10.

I normally have a relatively good experience at this store. I shop late or early to avoid the crowd. My last trip late in the evening was awful. I didn't have a lot of items, but had sorted them such that the marked down items were at the back of the order (like I usually do). I do that because sometimes the cashiers miss the orange or yellow markdown stickers. Turned out that the items at the front were fruits and vegetables and the items at the back of checkout conveyor belt were cans. The cashier put the fruits and vegetables - including bananas - in the bag first AFTER I told her that the markdowns, including cans, were actually at the back of the conveyer belt. She then proceeded to put the cans in my bag ON TOP of the bananas. I asked her to make sure the bananas were on top. She got mad at me! Complained to me harshly that I was trying to critique her job, and I could bag my own groceries if I was going to be that picky. Really? Bananas under cans? Picky? I. Was. Furious.

We have struck out one too many times in their meat department. Recently, we threw away over $50 in hand trimmed chicken breasts, pork tenderloin, and hamburger due to the flavor and texture - both were horribly off. The 1.5 lbs. of 90/10 ground beef had roughly a 1/2c. of liquid drained off - it wasn't all fat & it had not been frozen. The texture of the beef was very rubbery (it was far from over cooked). The pork tenderloin was very strong in regards to flavor. The chicken texture was unnaturally spongy. However, there are a couple highlights- the staff here are super friendly and helpful regardless of the hour & their triple berry bagels are wonderful.

In addition, there are safety dividers at the cashiers.
Workers from the local store roam the aisles and shop for you.
