Questions & Answers

What is a lash lift and tint?

Modern SLC Injections & Aesthetics | Jul 22, 2022
Modern SLC Injections & Aesthetics | Jul 22, 2022

Similar to brow lamination, a lash lift can enhance and draw in the eyes to reveal a beautiful, fuller-looking lash line. The lash lift utilizes a similar “perm” process to our brow lamination. Starting by breaking down the hair’s bond, without damaging the quality of the hair, followed by strategic shaping we can set your lashes into a shape that would mimic an eyelash curler and mascara application.

What is microneedling and who is a good candidate?

Modern SLC Injections & Aesthetics | Jul 22, 2022
Modern SLC Injections & Aesthetics | Apr 23, 2022

Microneedling initiates the skin’s wound healing process. It can stimulate your body’s own ability to produce collagen and elastin to reveal smoother skin. Microneedling or Micropenning with the SkinPen is perfect for anyone ready to improve their skin’s texture. Whether you have scars, large pores, fine lines, or are wanting to prevent premature aging, microneedling is perfect for you!

What is a deluxe brow lamination?

Modern SLC Injections & Aesthetics | Jul 22, 2022
Modern SLC Injections & Aesthetics | Jul 22, 2022

A deluxe brow lamination involves straightening and lifting your brow hairs using a chemical solution, which allows the hairs to have more flexibility to move them into your desired shape, therefore covering any gaps or stray areas. The result is fuller, fluffier eyebrows that last up to 8 weeks!

How can I prepare for my micro-needling treatment?

Modern SLC Injections & Aesthetics | Jul 22, 2022
Modern SLC Injections & Aesthetics | Jul 22, 2022

Discontinue using any active exfoliants for 5-7 days before coming in for your treatment. This includes but is not limited to retinol, salicylic acid, glycolic acid, and benzoyl peroxide. The risk of having an adverse reaction to the microneedling may increase if you use these products too closely to receiving the treatment. Let your aesthetician know if you are taking any antibiotics or prescription medications. These may also increase your skin’s sensitivity. Avoid direct sunlight and be sure your skin is not sunburnt when you come in for your treatment.

What is Kybella and how does it work?

Modern SLC Injections & Aesthetics | Jul 22, 2022
Modern SLC Injections & Aesthetics | Jul 22, 2022

Kybella is a product in a league of its own. It contains deoxycholic acid, which naturally occurs in the body, and is injected under the skin in areas where there are numerous fat cells. The most commonly treated areas are underneath the chin, in the jowls, or the area called the “bra fat bulge.” Kybella kills fat cells, leaving the skin surrounding the treatment areas intact, and those fat cells are entirely eliminated from the body, leaving you with permanent fat reduction in the injected area. Most Kybella treatments require a minimum of 2 vials.

How often should I get Botox/Dysport?

Modern SLC Injections & Aesthetics | Apr 23, 2022
Modern SLC Injections & Aesthetics | Apr 23, 2022

Most injectors will tell you that you need Botox/Dysport every 3 months. Of course, they do, it’s good for their pocketbook! But truthfully, no one NEEDS Botox. So you should get it as often as you like and as your finances allow. Our injector usually recommends that it’s a good idea to do it twice a year if it’s something you want to keep up on and prevent wrinkles from forming. Three times a year is probably the most realistic and if you can do it every 3 months, great! Our practitioners are here for you when you’re ready.

When is a good time to start Botox/Dysport?

Modern SLC Injections & Aesthetics | Apr 23, 2022
Modern SLC Injections & Aesthetics | Apr 23, 2022

There is no magic age or time to start Botox or Dysport. Skin wrinkling and lines are very specific to each person. We've seen 18 years with significant wrinkling and 60-year-olds for their first sign of crow’s feet! Our rule of thumb - first, start when you care and can add it. Second, start when you can see static lines at rest and before they become etched in too deep. Once they are etched in they are much harder to eliminate. SO whether you’re 22 or 60- do it when it’s right for you!

Although many people fear they’ll end up with crazy big lips, frozen foreheads, and smiles- this is not the case with a highly trained hand and a listening ear! Cosmetic injections can be subtle and natural to maintain a youthful look.
