Breathtaking Trees | Comfortable Hikes For All | Excellent Campground Hendy Woods is a wonderful park for people of all ages and abilities. It' has trails of varying, mostly mild difficulty, and all of the old growth is very accessible and flat. The old growth park is breathtaking. Many fallen giants are left where they fell. You can go inside several of the fire-hollowed trees. Although you should always stay on the path, they park does not feel overly fenced off like some other parks we've visited. There is a river bed that is also fun to explore, if you need a break from the trees. The campgrounds are very nice. Sites are large and among the redwoods, which you can't beat. As it can get very hot here in summer, it's great to have that canopy. Hosts and rangers are friendly too! Bonus: there is an apple orchard next door where you'll want to stop on the way out for tasty juices.

Quite possibly my favorite place in the world and my go to for a quick getaway from the city. The park is beautiful, the people are friendly, amazing Pinot Noir and Alsatian whites all over the valley. Perfect place for camping with plenty of things to do for a nice relaxing weekend!

Thanks to the 4th Grader Adventure Pass, we went explore this state park during spring break. The visitor center was closed in March. We wished they could offer little ranger program. The gold of California is gone but the red woods preserved.

Beautiful campsite tucked away in Philo, close to wineries and apple cider. The campsites all have plenty of space, bathrooms were fine, each site had a fire ring, table and shed for wood. I came during the week in June and there were a lot …

Company Kitchen is the closest and most desired restaurant, located next to Lemons Market in downtown Philo.
Go to the end and park. Go in just 100 feet for some spectacular views amd to aka pictures.
Yes. It is rare but bear and other large animals are known to be in the area. We ran into deer while there and no predatory animals.
Go-to California State Park website. We reserved 1 night July 9 back in March and it was only available for one night but alot of reservations didn't show up so our friends ended up staying 2 nights. Very rude of people to not cancel reservations in advance. Good luck
In Philo, Lemons market full service market, about 10 minutes.
Nope. What John said: small State Park surrounded by apple orchards and farms
Day use was open 2 weeks ago but I'd suggest calling to confirm you can use their "bbq stoves" in the picnic areas as the park brochure mentions.
The pavilion day use area is quite sizeable and we'll appointed. As long as the car entry is paid for I believe you're fine. The Rangers are very helpful.
I thought 2 weeks is the maximum length of stay.
No. There is no cell service unless you drive a few minutes up the road.
gorgeous!
You can grill in the fire pit. The wood they sale is no good for cooking tho,had to go to the fairgrounds in boonville to get some oak.
If you pay to get into the park you can use the bathrooms or if your a guest of someone camping you can use the bathrooms and showers but make sure you bring quarter's or find the camp host they have them as well
Some of the trails have signs that say no dogs but everyone brings them anyway.
Yes you can. our RV is 35ft We've been the host here for 3 months. BEAUTIFUL park
