This place looks beautiful and it is. Everything else in memory care was a nightmare. No care, can’t get help from staff, basically no one cares. They’re all about the money. Horrific experience. Please please don’t put your loved one here.

Note that Suzanne Bower works there. Shameful, imho! Update: Just received a threatening letter from their attorney after posting this review. These people really are awful, imho. I completely AGREE with Margie. Please see reviews below that point to additional unethical behavior. THEY PLAY GAMES WITH PRICING but will act like you're the liar. They made promises to me they didn't keep. After Erica made a horrible comment:: 'WE'RE AN UPSCALE COMMUNITY AND MAYBE NOT THE RIGHT FIT FOR YOU.' because my mother is on Medicaid, I walked away. They refuse to take responsibility for their incompetence or their pressure tactics. The V.P. I spoke with told me she would speak with my relatives Case Mgr. and then had the Director call her instead. No accountability, no sincerity, no willingness to do the right thing, at least in our case! The sales director just doesn't listen when you speak and the director, cold as ice and extremely condescending. Gave them a 2nd chance after a completely disingenuous apology; my mistake. I was told by Kerry that she would forego her commission to reduce community fee to $500 but then she went back on her word trying to add on a $400/monthly fee for CARE which I was told and have in writing is INCLUDED! They knew I had to move quickly and they just wasted my time .I had to call the CEO, who is very, very cold and devoid of compassion, imho. She told me she would call me right back after I called her but didn't keep her word in the end and when I called her, she deflected and blamed me. I've NEVER seen anyone play games like this and to do this during such a challenging time is just egregious. She told me I was 'emotional' Damn straight! This is not akin to buying a car! Now my poor relative will be stuck in a nursing facility for longer than she should be and due to this fiasco, we may lose V.A. benefits that took 11 months to obtain. Shame on you Harbor Retirement! And another review from "A Place for Mom" March 12, 2022 Susan - Loved one of resident/client Terrible I was in the process of moving my mother into memory care. This facility withdrew money from my account that was not justified. It took over 3 months for them to provide a statement justifying the amount of the withdrawal, and there was over $5800 in charges that were not authorized. The executive director [name removed] promised to refund a partial amount in December, but it never happened. The sales director [name removed] promised me a complete refund in August. It has been over 7 months and I have not been refunded any of the money. The staff at HarborChase has stopped responding to emails and phone calls. They are only prompt with responses when they are trying to sell you something. I have heard multiple stories form other residents who were also overcharged and not reimbursed. And from Yelp: Adam B. Oakland, CA 3/2/2022 My mother passed away before actually moving in to the facility. Kevin Carroll, sales director, told us we would get our money fully refunded if my mother was unable to move in to the facility. They owe us $5,822. It has been over 6 months and we were promised by the executive director, Erica Cohen, we would "absolutely" be receiving the refund. She has since stopped communicating with us. We are left to assume they are acting in bad faith. I can not recommend putting trust in this company.

If you are thinking about putting your loved one here, please know they only care about your money. My family member was there for more then 2 years it was awful if we weren’t there on top of his care they would of left him unattended and on his own. Erica gives you a great line when your new and shopping around, but they don’t care about the individuals & 90% of the staff does nothing and are very disrespectful. Stay away unless you can be there everyday. I literally saw patients on the floor crying for help with aides walking by doing nothing. Beware!
