I am writing to highly recommend Florida Solar Design Group. My wife and I had a new system installed recently by another installer. It uses Enphase inverters and includes an app to track system performance. We began to realize that the system probably wasn't performing correctly and reached out to our installer. Who ignored our repeated calls and emails. Over a frustrating few weeks we learned that our installer had cut corners. Looking for the best way forward, we contacted Florida Solar Design Group. Jason Szumlanski returned my initial call to their office within an hour or so. He is easy to talk to because he listens well and then responds clearly and directly to what he hears. He is intelligent, articulate and informative and his expertise became clear very quickly. After about 10 minutes of talking, Jason said that he was pretty confident that he understood the problem and the solution, and he said he would call me back soon. Within the hour, he called back and confirmed that he had been able to tweak our system remotely to correct the issue that we had identified. He then explained that we would be wise to have him look over the install to ensure that there were no other problems. He said that he would not charge for his time, only for materials that might be needed. We agreed (of course!) On site, Jason assured us that the installer had provided a good system, but he also showed us how the workmanship was somewhat sloppy and that it also revealed their lack of experience with the Enphase equipment. Spending about two hours on site, Jason reinstalled the consumption metering hardware, double checked the rest of the install and then completed the software update so that the system was, finally, fully functional. I am very grateful for Jason's assistance. More than that, I am amazed that he took the time to do this, for free, simply because he wanted to help. From the beginning of our first phone call to the end of his visit to our house, his intention was to solve our issues. The whole experience was amazingly good: he returned calls just as promised, he arrived at our house on schedule, he was thorough on site with great attention to detail, and through it all he was efficient but unhurried, committed to quality, informative and pleasant. I urge anyone who is looking into solar installations to include Florida Solar Design Group in their list of people to speak with.

There is a reason FSDG has 200+ 5-star reviews. Whenever I make a significant investment, I like to first do my due diligence, especially when I have no knowledge of the product. That generally means internet research with multiple bids and discussions, etc. I first contacted FSDG based on all the overwhelming positive reviews. Dominic returned my call promptly and we met a few days later. He is so enthusiastic about solar energy that it is infectious. He and his business partner (Jason) have been in the business the better part of 20 years and they are intimately familiar with all aspects of solar energy from the makeup of the panels (silicon), to their efficiency (generally able to process 20% of solar energy into usable energy), and where they are produced (Texas). I learned about alternating and direct currents and about micro-inverters. I had already made the decision, but the team of Dominick and Jason made that so much easier. They took care of everything from the permits, to the install, to the follow up with FPL to get me “on-line”. And, by the way, their bid was significantly more competitive than other bids we received. I still enjoy looking at my energy production app on a daily basis to watch my ROI in real time. Thank you Dominic, Jason, and Florida Solar Design Group for bringing me into the 21st century!

I initially had a horrible experience with a different solar provider, and they went out of business before finishing my project. I had called Jason, one of the owners at Florida Solar Design Group to get a quote to redo the solar array and get it to pass inspection. Jason went over and above helping me with the county and other issues, so even though he was slightly more, he obtained my trust with his knowledge and forthrightness. Bottom line is he reinstalled the whole 43 panel array and it is now up and running. I wish I would have known about Jason and Florida Solar Design Group in the first place, as it would have saved me a lot of time, heartache and money. I would highly recommend that if you are looking for a firm that does things right the first time, is honest, follows through, really knows their craft and is very responsive to your requests.....then Florida Solar Design Group is the company for you. Susan, the office manager is also awesome, she makes them look good as well. They took lemons and made some lemonade out of it. On top of being a first class operation, the whole team is also nice people to work with.

What is the most popular type of solar energy in Southwest Florida?

Florida Solar Design Group | Sep 21, 2018

Solar pool heating is, by far, the most common use of solar panels in Southwest Florida. With so many swimming pools and a great climate for solar thermal performance, this is one of the top markets in the nation for solar pool heating. You can tell just by driving around - solar pool heaters are everywhere!

Can it be installed on a steal roof?

Florida Solar Design Group | Sep 21, 2018

How it is attached and whether we recommend it depends on the exact type of metal roof. With more information we can help guide you properly. Give us a call!

I'm interested in getting an estimate from your company. And what does the design entail? How long does it take?

Norman Wade | Sep 21, 2019
Jason Szumlanski | Sep 21, 2019

When we get a request from a client we take an initial look at the roof using aerial imagery (advanced imagery not freely available). That gives us an idea of how viable your rooftop is. Next we call or email you to gather some details about your goals. From there we can set an appointment for an in-home consultation. If you prefer to communicate by phone and email initially we can proceed that way. Behind the scenes we will do a design layout with solar panels superimposed on your rooftop that meets your stated goals. This forms the basis for a proposal. In the case of solar pool heating, we identify the ideal rooftop and size the system according to your pool size and existing equipment. For solar electricity we take your current electricity bills and design a system to offset all or part of that electricity usage based on your goals. For ballpark figures we can get this done in less than 24 hours. For precise pricing, we prefer to make a site visit.

Due to licensing constraints, we are limited to contracting in Florida. Our current service area encompasses mainly Southwest Florida, but we do travel for some projects of interest when there is a challenge we want to undertake!

Good afternoon, considering going to solar can you confirm if the 26% tax credit will be expiring at the end of 2021 and or 2022? Thank you.

The 26% tax credit is still good next year in 2022.

Do you repair/maintain systems?

blz1td4u | Sep 20, 2021
Florida Solar Design Group | Sep 20, 2021

Yes, we perform repairs primarily for the brands we offer and in limited circumstances we perform service on other brands. If we have expertise and availability, we are happy to consider service needs on systems installed by other contractors. We also do many removals and reinstallations for bad installs by others and help people who have been abandoned by their contractor whenever possible.
