Large parking area with access to the bison viewing pastures. Can be a long walk so bring water. Bicycles make it easier and you can rent them at the site In late July and August the wildflowers in the restored prairies are blooming.

Low key place for a walk/hike. From here you can walk to see the bison, the iron bridge trail, the bunker trail where you can get inside a bunker used when Midewin was the Joliet Army Ammunition Plant, or go anywhere else in Midewin. There’s usually a few people out and about but be prepared to enjoy the area by yourself.

Great for mountain biking or hiking. Several parking lots and not usually crowded.
