I could not identify the babies that were in our backyard in a 4” hole. Shelby was able to facilitate that answer after viewing the video. They were cotton tails. Welcome to North Carolina! She took the time to explain that they wouldn’t be there very long and there was no need to disturb them, they would leave on their own. I’m so thankful I was able to contact someone so professional/friendly/knowledgeable. Thank you for your response and being there to educate me. Bless your sanctuary and staff.

They were great and we appreciate all the help with the 3 baby squirrels we found. Thank you for all that you do!

This place was nice. Lots of cool wildlife. The inside was ok and a bit small. But it was good for the small creatures who needed to be fed and taken care of. I would recommend. The folks that we dealt with were nice and friendly. I'd definitely come a d visit again.

My family and I had the unique opportunity to visit Possumwood Acres as we were making donations and got to see all the residents and rescues being rehabilitated. The staff members were polite and patient telling us all about the process at Possumwood. We enjoyed our visit and were happy to see such a wonderful sanctuary in place for wildlife.

They open mon-sun 9am-5pm it's best to call first.
Call them and if they can they will take it in. They are awesome people
What's going on and I'll try to find out real quick
Yeah, this sanctuary is mostly birds.
Yes they do, I'm actually an intern working there for the summer. We take anything that's been abandoned or injured unless it is a rabies vector species.
We allow any age to volunteer but under 16 must have an adult present. You can fill out our volunteer packet on our website!
Great people there
Possumwood Acres Wildlife Sanctuary was founded by Toni Oneil, but it is a 501c3 non-profit, owned by a board of directors.
They do help with baby birds. But you have to bring them there.
Absolutely! They are really good about it.
Sorry, we are all volunteer run and do not have the means to go pick up trees. We happily accept them to reuse so they are not wasted, but people have to drop them off.
