One of the top hikes around Asheville. Loop marked well with blue dots. However it’s easy to take wrong turn if you want to take trail to waterfall. No cell signal so recommend AllTrails download before going or have map on phone.

Beautiful hike to the upper falls! *Trail is not well marked; note that about 3/4s of the way to the upper falls, you'll CROSS the river, instead of turning right* At the falls, walk out on the rocks at the end to look up at the falls! Fantastic place to sit and have a snack. Do the loop to the lower on the way back and stop to soak your feet in the water.

Beautiful hike. Moderate difficultly for a family hike, but we managed it with a 3, 4, 9, and 11 year old. Down the steps from the parking lot is a nice paved path that takes you to the lower falls. The early part of the trail after that is well established with some trail markers, but it soon changes to what feels like a water run-off formed the path and is not as well marked. You do need to cross a stream at one point to continue on to the upper falls, otherwise you'll end up in the wrong place. The last part of the hike is rocky and a bit more technical, but nothing too tricky, just mind your footing and enjoy the upper falls at the end.Trail seemed popular but wasn't overcrowded. Lots of people had their dogs with them. All and all a great hike.

Highly recommend the upper falls. You can climb to the top of the waterfall! Amazing views and a lovely hike to them!

There is a pool at the end of the trail. Agility required to enter. Very cool water, about 40°F/5°C.
Graveyard Fields hike is a loop if you want to go to both Falls. Should be only a 1.1 mile hike with a elevation gain 450. Very short hike for to great rewards. Plus the view from the parking lot is nice too. Plus there's restrooms there. I hope this was helpful to you enjoy your adventure. The spot was definitely in my top 10 out of all the spots I've stopped on the parkway. My favorite was Greggy pinnacle. .07 tenth of a mile hike for an extraordinary View.
It would depend on the dog. There are some very steep rocky segments if you take the trail all the way to the upper falls. A small dog may need to be carried.
Look for a foliage chart online for this year. Every year is a little different. Generally though end Oct to 1st 2 weeks of Nov
