A short distance beyond Rainbow Falls on the same trail. A bit more accessible in terms of approach to the water than Rainbow Falls.

I highly recommend this hike if you're into breathtaking waterfall views and natural frequencies to balance yourself out.

Nice shaded moderate hike. Pretty busy trail though! The falls are about 2.1 miles from the trailhead, def worth the drive! Fun place to take a dunk too.

Awesome waterfall with some risk you can slide down the fall. Falls are about .5mile ahead of rainbow falls on its trail

Questions & Answers

How deep the Turtleback fall is?

Irene Williams | Aug 23, 2021
Nichole Greco | Aug 24, 2021

It varies. Shallow enough to stand in some spots, but where you slide off the falls, I'd guess 15-20 feet. No chance of hitting the bottom when sliding off the falls.

Turtleback Falls is above Rainbow Falls in Gorge State Park Sapphire, North Carolina about 3 hrs from Stone Mountain so you may want to reconsider

People do go over the falls, like a slide. My last visit there there was a good amount of debris under the falls, but we skipped out on riding it it due to it being unsafe. I would say use your own judgement and be careful!
