Great selection of Japanese knives, friendly and knowledgeable staff excited to talk to you about knife maintenance, and very importantly, the only place I’ve found in the bay that sharpens barber shears in person! Amazing place, would definitely visit again and maybe bring some knives for a professional sharpening.

I have been there to ask for exactly that. The answer is yes, however it’s quite expensive. They gave me instructions on how to sharpen them on my own. I ended up investing in some Japanese water stones and Pfiel and high end Japanese gouges. I sharpen every 20 minutes or so using a soft wood that has the shape of the gouge carved into it. I fill the area with honing compound. I also use a strop with honing compound. All this has greatly improved my carving experience, to the point where I have sharp tools all the time.
