My first visit to Bistro 70, I was underwhelmed at first. The restaurant was warm, and it felt a bit like we were in a diner. We were seated right near the kitchen door which needed a coat of paint. I asked the waiter for a recommendation and he basically stated he could not recommend anything….it was awkward. Fortunately, we stayed and had an excellent meal. The chef came out and checked on how our food tasted. We ordered the brown butter cake with vanilla ice cream for dessert and it was very good. A few more classy touches (like cloth tablecloths) could make a difference, but the food did not disappoint. We will be back!

One bonus off the bat is they have a reservation system! This is sometimes hard to find, but Bistro 70 still practices this convenient way of getting a table without having to wait with a vibrating hockey puck in your hand. Parking is plentiful. The atmosphere is very comfortable and engaging, everything a bistro should be. The menu is diverse and priced very well. Large selection of wines, martini's, beer and specialty drinks. The food was amazing, I ordered the Blackened Shrimp with Chef's Risotto and the Vegetable DuJour, it was amazing. Perfect grill of the shrimp along with a perfectly cooked risotto. Not sure how I let this gem in Painesville escape me before, but I'm glad I found it!

We stopped by for dinner tonight after seeing lobster bisque on the menu - we are suckers for lobster bisque and this did not disappoint. Lobster bisque was excellent. The stuffed grouper was also very good. We can't wait to go back!
