Employees working the patient check in counter are so rude. They should change the personnel. Also, the doctor my appointment was with continues to overbook and makes patients wait 2 hours to be seen. This place can definitely do better.

As a ucd patient living downtown with no transportation other than RT it’s very frustrating and cumbersome to try to schedule an appointment. I’ve left messages and their response is simply “they will try to return the call”. Very poor service from an otherwise great hospital. Please someone do better.

It has been 6 months since my blepharoplasty and my right eye is still burning terribly and tearing. The procedure itself consisted of the Dr. spending only a couple of minutes with me, marking my eyes as she spoke with someone else in the room, then leaving me for hours to wait. I was rushed out of the surgery center while still under anesthesia and before fully aware of what was happening and was not given instructions or ice packs. The pain on the way home as the anesthesia wore off was SO INTENSE that I went into shock. This was a TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE and is still ongoing. The results are minimal at best, with more scarring than lifting and the burning pain still wakes me every night. The "brow lift" that was to accompany the procedure did not happen and I was not informed until after the blephs that there should be TWO brow lifts done to get the desired result (poor communication). For those who are not aware, as I wasn't, the area under your eyebrow is NOT eyelid, but considered brows. There was no supervision of the procedure, and no concerns were given to my special needs (ultra thin corneas). I have asked for a refund but am still being strung along. I will update this after I see an experienced oculoplastic specialist and determine what went wrong. The Dr. that performed the procedure completed clinical research in cardiothoracic surgery in medical school and during her transitional year did change to do retinal research. This is not the sign of a person dedicated to oculoplastic surgery and my case is one that shows the difference in the outcome.

What does it cost to get an evaluation regarding macular degeneration? I do not have insurance.

You would have to call the billing department first to get exact prices. But also it may be cheaper for you to go to an Optometrist first to get assessments and then ask them if they can refer you to the UC Davis Ophthalmologist. If you are able to choose your your provider Dr. Mannis and Dr. Lim are the Drs you should shoot for. at UCD Eye Center.

Are glasses free with medi-cal and Medicare?

I don't believe medi-cal pays but there are alot of eye glass places that offer 2 pairs of glasses for cheap, just make sure you get your eye prescription from the doctor that way you don't pay for another eye exam.

do you accept Medicare for eye glasses?

Hi, I do billing and coding for the eye center. Medicare doesn't cover eyeglasses or routine eye care anywhere. Contact Medicare for you benefits information, they usually only cover medical eye conditions, such as glaucoma, cataracts, etc.
