The room was awesome just what we needed for a little getaway me and the wife.

The old feel to the place felt like you stepped back in time and staff especially holly was so helpful and nice; I loved the old fireplace in one of the rooms and the old timey piano in the front room wt the cool lamps everywhere:. The only one thing is I wish it didn't have carpet in rooms cause it kills my sinus and allergy problem; would stay again for sure. ..

Originally the hotel was named the Louisiana house; built in 1852. In 1860 the hotel burned down. The hotel was rebuilt during the American civil war; not too antagonized the Yankees travellers of the time; the hotel was renamed the "National Hotel" which has remained to this day.
Yes he did. He stayed at the National Hotel, and his picture hangs at Faye & Mel's.
