The United Stares Florist Circus is the most inept agency in a government that specializes in ineptitude, and the Mi-Wuk Ranger District of the Stanislaus is the worst. They are often closed and when they are open their staff are unprofessional and lacking in actual knowledge about anything related to forestry or outdoor recreation.

Last year the campground we have been going to for 24 years was closed for tree removal and there was nothing about that on the website. We ended up camping at a place right next to a road with no vaulted toilets, no water. . .I have been trying to call the Mi Wok ranger station to find out if the campground would be open this year and the phone just rings, and rings, and rings. They are not helpful at all..

The Stanislaus Forest is closed, including Pinecrest Lake, by forest order until 9/17/21 unless the order is extended. Most forest's in the state closed 9/2/21 due to extreme fire danger.
You can also go online and get the permits
I don't know if your talking about the fire station in back or the forestry station in front on Hwy 108 cause the forestry office in front has been closed for a couple of years.
