The folks at this ferry terminal in New Bedford were super nice. Ferry was clean, efficient and got my daughter to Martha's Vineyard safely and quickly.

I bought a round-trip ticket for September 15-17, 2021 to Martha’s Vineyard. On the 17th I had the later ferry reservation. I walked into the front office at Oak Bluffs around 11 AM hoping to get on the 2 PM ferry because it was pouring rain on the island. The person at the ticket counter was very polite and told me both ferries were canceled because of mechanical problems. When I asked him what are people supposed to do? He offered me a refund. And, he told me he was given no further instructions. I asked him when he would tell his mother if she was in the situation? He suggested I take a Steamship ferry to Woods Hole and get on an Peter Pan Bus to get to New Bedford where my car was parked in the sea streak parking lot. I began my journey on the 1215 steamship ferry to Woods Hole. I arrived in Woods Hole around 1 PM and got on a Peter Pan Bus. I waited at my first connection, Bourne over two hours waiting for my bus to to new Bedford. In the meantime at 12:41 PM I received an email from the Seastreak company telling me to get on the 5 PM ferry in Martha’s Vineyard to Woods Hole and they would have a shuttle bus from Woods Hole to New Bedford. I arrived at the Sea Street ferry in New Bedford thanks to Peter Pan Bus and the guidance of the young man at the ticket counter in Martha’s Vineyard. But now the issue was they were no staff to get my car out of the parking lot! I want to give a big shout out to customer service representative, Jessica who figured out a way to make that happen for me so that I didn’t have to uber or walk with my bags to the parking lot. The only reason I’m giving two stars is because of Jessica. She is customer centered and figured out a way to get my car when she was left with very little staff. I don’t think I will use this ferry again. It’s a niche market, for sure. But the slowness in which it solves problems for its customers makes me concerned and made my day super inconvenienced.
