The campsite was small but beautiful. The river was clear and warm. The camp host however, leaves a lot to be desired. Our time was peaceful until our last night when 2 sets of people set up camp. Both were loud with one set stayed up until 4am. Both ignored the courteous quiet hours between 10pm and 7am. A man complained to the camp host the next morning and she said she didn't care. Also, one out of the three toilets in the women's bathroom had a seat. She was lax in filling the toilet paper and toilet seat covers. A man had to go get a payment envelope and she gave him only one. It took her 6 hours to bring more payment envelopes.

Awful. Do not camp here. The many children of the camp host (Nicole is her name)will run through your site and climb on your stuff. I asked the camp host to kindly round up her kids and she didn’t. They are rude and dirty children with a negligent mother. Also bathrooms are dirty and there is trash everywhere.

Great spot to camp and enjoy the river

A gem of a campground on the Smith River.

Host never check vehicles, has all her tweeker friends living there. Stay away, its not safe....
no, the county does not allow camping on the river bar. Only in designated camping sites. There are 4 sites that overlook the river bar, however.
Sorry, I don't know. It's a beautiful place to stop and enjoy nature. I've never stayed there but I stop every time I go by for a picnic or just to enjoy the scenery.
Unless you put a gate on it, you will never keep the tweekers out....
Technically $20, but other campoers I talke d to dont pay, cause host never checks
It just depends. Even in the winter if the river is in good condition and steelhead are in it can still have visitors. Particularly weekends. Quite often we are able to find a spot. But its always good to have a few backups in mind just in case.
Technically 5 days, but no one checks so you have homeless camps set up....
I think it's first come first serve, no reservations
There's restrooms; no showers 🚿, running water from sink faucets and toilets that ACTUALLY WORK... flushing GOOD 👍 and last time I had VISITED... paper towels to wipe hands AFTER washing; bring your own soaps, toilet paper in each stall but the camp hosts clean the restrooms daily... One for MEN and one for WOMEN. I can't address the ELECTRIC or WATER hook ups BUT Hiouchi is nearby... Chevron Market/Gas Station and across the street a place to eat... Hiouchi Cafe & north of the cafe is the Hiouchi Motel usually $80 a night 🌙 for a room...
There is a turn around, and there was several RVs there over the times we've visited. Not sure the lengths of the RVs. The parks department is pretty informational if you call them, you might have to leave a message but they call back.
It's illegal to collect wood in the national park areas. County you can but be careful of surrounding private property. Best to buy at local stores.
I don't recall that being the case. Some traffic noise, but no problem.
Do the rangers come and collect the fees?? Im asking for a friend so that way she knows to pay or were do she pay at??
