Will not answer your calls. Take days or weeks to call you back. Only way you get help.is if you go in there act like you can't speak English and then you'll get help and have your benefits instantly. Don't be an American and go in there then it will take forever to get her or anything done and that is if they decide to work on your case. Move, if you can or use address from other county and go to other county to get help cause it sure ain't Rowan DSS.

It’s a public assistance office, you shouldn’t expect superior customer service. Expect to be disappointed by people who do a job to get a paycheck. The smaller the city the worse the service. Expect bad and you won’t be upset. Never answer phones. Doesn’t update website.

I have been waiting for help since February of 2022 regarding our Lieap application. My caseworker, Velvet White, was the most disrespectful, rude, and unprofessional worker I have ever talked with on the phone. She did not try to help us at all. Denied our case without following proper procedures. After the first hearing, they straight up lied about what was said/done. Went to the state level where they proved she did not do her job and remanded it back to the county. They were supposed to reach out for more information and still never contacted me. I made a complaint to White's supervisor, Mrs Adams, who has proven herself to be just as bad. After calling for weeks after the state hearing, I got ahold of a different supervisor who said they waited so long my case was closed and that the state had to re-open it. In the meantime having all the info for assistance (that we've been qualified for since Feb). I was told Mrs Adams would call me in a couple days once the state reopened my case. It's been weeks yet again. I've lost count of how may times I've called and left messages. What a discrace this place is.
