Beautiful retreat in Hilton Head. I didn't see Big AL but I did see an armadillo

The Audubon Newhall Preserve was a great way to spend a couple hours outside in nature. I got to see lots of wildlife- many different types of birds, turtles, lizards, insects- and a diverse variety of plant life. It was great that plants were labeled in the preserve so I knew what I was looking at and got some information on it’s uses or purposes. When you enter the preserve, there are maps you can take to help you find your way along the trails, as well as a bird list to cross off your finds while you hike. It’s very relaxing and informative. The preserve is very well taken care of.

Beautiful area! Both happy and sad we didn't see Big Al while we were there, but the wildlife area was a nice escape into nature without being too overwhelming. Would definitely recommend!

It's a beautiful area, but not a very long trail as I recall. Maybe 1/4 or 1/2 mile loop around a pond. But...you could make several loops if you needed a longer walk. It is not paved, but, of course, it's pretty even.
I believe the trails are meant to be walked. They are not paved, and not very wide.
Leashed dogs are permitted.
