Leon new manager (?) of auction house is all about the profits....mislabels/ not correctly describe items which is very misleading....auction house has changed since the change in management....cannot be trusted (unlike when it was directly managed by mr smith) that what they sell is what it truly is and attempt / pressure you to buy the item even when proven to be a fake

Hello, Yes we do sometimes have auctions that contain estate items that are not antiques. You can see this currently with our online sale at www.wsmithauction.com. You are free to send us photos of the estate and we can let you know if it is something we can help you with.

Hi Suzanne, thanks for your question. The best place to start when you have items for possible consignment is to send some photos of the pieces over email. You can use our general mailbox: [email protected]. That way, we can see what you have and evaluate it quickly. Once we make a decision, we will be in touch with you to figure out the particulars such as consignment rates, pick-ups (which are free of charge), and other details. We look forward to hearing from you! Sincerely, The Team at Smith's

What is the likely date of a dove-tailed cherry wood, lift top desk with square hand-wrought nails evident on the back?

Helen Davidson | Sep 20, 2018
W.A. Smith, Inc. | Sep 20, 2018

Hi Helen, Thank you for your question! Square head nails are an indicator of the piece being 19th century. Rose head nails would indicate 18th century. Dovetailing would indicate 19th century or earlier... so our best guess would be 19th century! Hope this helps!

Good afternoon, You had an auction on 6 April. I think I had a bid on lot #62, which was 4 cut glass decanters. Can you tell me what the winning bid was on that auction and whether or not I was the winning bidder? Thanks David Smith

William Smith | Sep 19, 2020

Traditionally we have not posted our sale prices. However if the auction took place after April 2020, sales prices will be available in past sales at Live Auctioneers. If you are a winning bidder at our auction you will receive an invoice the following work day post auction

Hi, are you having a two day spring auction in Sarasota this year? And, if so, what are the dates? Thanks!

William Smith | Sep 19, 2020

I am sorry we do not currently have plans for a Sarasota auction this year.

I have around 20 old milk cans that we used to ship milk to the creamery years ago. I also have 6 home made quilts the oldest is 1880, 1920's, 1940's and 1950. Do you buy or sell these items?

Steve Tucker | Sep 20, 2018
William Smith | Sep 19, 2020

If you would like to email photos of these items we are happy to let you know if their current auction value and if we are able to assist you in their sale
