We had an amazing experience with Meyer Hatchery! We ordered our four girls and we got an immediate confirmation with the expected shipping date. The date got postponed one week due to the chicks not hatching on time, they resent a date of expected shipping and more information on our order. The chicks arrived at our local post office within 48 hours of them being shipped. This was our first time ordering birds so we were nervous about them arriving healthy and alive. Well, we shouldn't have worried. The chicks were peeping and scurrying around the box on the way home. When we unboxed them they were a little bit chilly and scared but we put them in their brooder and within 5 minutes they were asleep. When they did wake up they were vibrant and healthy. We are currently at the 2 week mark and they are doing amazing! We are very happy with our experience at Meyer Hatchery!

I’ve ordered from Meyers two years now and each time they have had such great open communication and even give solutions/trouble shooting if needed. I recommend this hatchery to all of my chicken hobby friends. And I plan on ordering from them every year!

This was our first time ordering chicks and it was a great experience. We were able to pick our hatch date and they were born and shipped to us by the next day. The chicks are all healthy and so cute! I would recommend Meyer Hatchery to anyone looking to order chicks 👍🏼

All chicks came super healthy and happy! Started eating right away and drinking! Only had a few with some pasty butt was able to clean it up! Will see how the rest of the week goes but super happy with Meyer Hatchery. This was the first time ordering chicks in the mail and they came so nicely packed with a very nice heat pack!Peter, thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. We are so happy to hear you are pleased with your new peeps. Let us know if there is anything else we can do to be of assistance!

Can you raise hens of different breeds together or is it best to get all the same breeds? Also, do you have any started pullets or will you have any around May?

You can raise any together but I've found once they're older it can be difficult to introduce more later

Hi. I am looking at adding a grown rooster into my flock of 10 1.5 year hens. any suggestions on how to introduce him? Previously a stray rooster found my flock and was with us for about 10 months, so the flock is used to having a rooster with them.

Kristi Campbell | Oct 16, 2021
andie szczepkowski | Oct 17, 2021

I haven’t introduced a rooster in a while but when I introduced him to the rest of them I put him in a crate and left him out there for about an hour or so I then I put him in a section of my field that was fenced off from the others for a day then let him out with the rest of them and everything went great

Golden buffs are very friendly and great layers.

Hi,my chicks are 8 weeks old now wondering what type of feed they should have now. They've just finished a third bag of medicated feed so should I continue that or move to something else?

Linda Spurlock | Jan 14, 2021
JIMMIE SANTEE | Jan 15, 2021

First I have a question. What kind of chicks. Meat bird or layers or pets. If meatbird they should have been off medicated feed after week 2 and put on meatbird feed. If layers take them off chick feed and put them on layer feed. If you have feed on hand then blend it in with the layer until gone but do not buy any more. That also goes for the pet ones.

Winona Andrade | Jan 15, 2020

Can you post pics? It's hard to judge what is wrong, without seeing. In the mean time, if your coop is as wet as mine, check the bottom of her feet for bumblefoot aka staphylococcus infection.

My chickens are 3 years old. I have never wormed them. Should they be wormed every year?

Jane Braddock | Jan 15, 2020
Danny R | Jan 16, 2020

When to repeat treatment. If you are worming as part of a prevention routine, most poultry keepers worm at least every 3-6 months with Flubenvet. As a minimum, in the spring before the breeding season, as the temperature rises and worm eggs become infective and again at the end of summer as egg numbers decline. From Google I usually worm every 3 months apple cider vinegar works well

I spent 30 + minutes searching and entering information to purchase 18 birds. 6 Rhode island reds, 6 Barred rocks and 6 Black copper marinas. THE LAST THING TO DO WAS TO PICK A DELIVERY DATE WHICH DID NOT EXIST! NO DATES WERE OPEN. WASTE OF TIME!!!

Mister Bonemouth | Jan 15, 2019
Meyer Hatchery (Owner) | Jan 16, 2019

Mr. Bonemouth, sorry to hear that you had trouble when trying to place an order. We do have several ways for you to check dates on the website. Under shop > chickens, you can shop by date. On each breed, there is an availability tab as well. We do have very limited availability on the Black Copper Marans. I would suggest ordering them separate or selecting an alternative Marans or other dark egg layer such as a Welsummer or Barnevelder.

What do you do to catch the chicken thats peeking the others eggs and eating them.

David Polk | Jan 15, 2018
Tammy Luich | Jan 16, 2018

Will have to watch to know which one. I would separate that one from the eggs.
