Need to get a blankin referral every time I need to see a doctor or receive services outside of my primary care physician network. They don’t cover some of the medications that were prescribed to me. And my hospital stay was extended 3 days because Tufts administration was questioning my doctors decision- even though the doctors were actually seeing me and Tufts administrators were reading a piece of paper (plus they weren’t doctors.)

In my job I have to work with a lot of insurance companies. None are as poorly run as Tufts, especially their credentialing department. It honestly should be criminal for an insurance company to be this inept. I have chased them down for answers regarding getting our clinicians pannelled with them so we can accept Tufts at our practice and they take over 6 months to respond and when they do, their answers are useless. Never in any context, at any job or in my personal life, have I dealt with a more poorly run company. If this is how their back office works, I would not trust their ability to provide competent services to their customers. If you can avoid it, DO NOT GET INSURANCE THROUGH TUFTS!

The worst doctors around I would stay far away from this place. I do not like to be negative or pick out things so I will not speak on how terrible this office is. Just that you should do anything possible to find a different doctors office.

Good luck getting medication covered. I hear they outsourced their prior authorization services to third party contractors and it shows. It takes about 5 business days of "processing" for you to then find out their team of "clinicians" rejected the claim for no good reason. Hopefully you have a good doctor that doesn't mind wasting hours of their day dealing with them. Also they definitely doctor search results to make it impossible to find information about how terrible their services are. Avoid at all cost.

Call the number on the back of your card and they will be able to let you know if you are in-network or out-of-network. Also you may want to make sure that dental benefits are included with your plan. In addition please ask about all co-pays and or deductibles.
Be very careful and do your homework with this plan. We are in Western MA, and the options are limited, as are the choice of doctors. The only hospital covered by this plan in our direct area is Mercy Medical in Springfield, and they almost killed my father last summer. We filed a grievance with Tufts regarding this and were pretty much ignored.
