In a younger patient (40-55), the tissues are in better condition, and the patient is less likely to have medical issues. However, the younger patient may not have such a dramatic change, since the amount of skin laxity is still relatively small. Patients with more skin laxity get a more dramatic result when comparing the “before” versus the “after” photographs, but their skin and soft tissues are thinner and less elastic. There may be more medical issues to sort out, prior to anesthesia and surgery.

No – if the breast is droopy and the nipple position is low, typically a breast lift is needed to get an attractive result. Sometimes a breast lift and a breast augmentation can be combined in the same surgery. An augmentation, by itself, just gives you a “bigger version of what you already have”, and the nipple position would continue to be low, with the lower breast hanging off the implant. If you find yourself lifting up or pushing up your breast in order to see the appearance you would ideally like – then you’ll probably need a breast lift.

Simply put, the more loose skin you have, the more of a correction you need. You can test this on yourself: lean forward a little bit while sitting in a chair. Grab your loose abdominal skin, and see how far to the sides the loose skin goes. That’s how far the incision should extend to correct it. Tumescent liposuction is the concept of injecting fluid into the fat to be treated as a preliminary step before liposuction. This expands the target area, and since the fluid contains a small amount of epinephrine (“adrenalin”), it causes constriction of the blood vessels – which means less bleeding and bruising. It’s a widely used technique that is an initial part of liposuction, before any fat removal is performed.

There are a number of options for liposuction – and most of them work equally effectively. The key factor to look for is the experience of the surgeon, not the brand of liposuction machine used.
