Travis McBride has helped me tremendously I have had my fair share of low points in life, most people do, and we are all trying to find some sort of happiness. Travis shows you correct paths with facts to back up his therapy and really pays close attention to his clients emotions and general vibe. The atmosphere of his office is also relaxing with big fluffy German Shepards to keep you company. I recommend Travis McBride 100% and I’m proud of the progress I made with the help of Travis

Starting out before visiting Mr. McBride, I was lost on how to manage anxiety., and depression. I learned with Mr. McBride various strategies and self-help mechanisms to help me combat generalized anxiety. I wanted a quick fix when I had my first appointment. I believed I would get a usual "everything I do as a patient is fine" response from this service as if my concerns could be easily fixed. But with Mr. McBride as my pyshcologist he was super attentive, also challenging my previous coping mechanisms to become a better version of myself that only I could accomplish as an individual. I learned self-accountability and ways I could positively change my lifestyle, I learned how to be more self-reliant. I can say now with all of these tools and a lot of time of commitment I can say confidently i can control my anxiety.as if it was a problem of the past.

Imagine being hospitalized for 58 days and having as a support system a compassionate therapist who cares deeply for you and texts you or calls you every day to check up on you. Travis McBride of Starting Point Mental Health is that therapist. Travis truly cares about all of his clients and goes the extra mile of checking up on them outside of sessions. I am currently enduring the worst medical crisis of my lifetime, and Travis has been my biggest supporter throughout the lowest of the lows, and he has been my biggest cheerleader throughout my victories along the way. Travis has held many online counseling sessions with me while I have been hospitalized, and he always texts or calls even on the weekends to make sure I am being treated well and getting the medical intervention I need. Travis frequently reminds me, “I will always be here for you,” which is extremely comforting to me. Travis is an expert in treating anxiety and is well-read and up to date on the latest literature. He teaches you how to redirect negative thoughts that trigger anxiety from the amygdala to the prefrontal cortex, which assesses the threat level of those thoughts and overrides the amygdala’s emotional/reactionary response, thus triggering a relaxation response. Travis applies extensive methods through a holistic approach to achieve this redirected thinking when negative thoughts begin to trigger anxiety: mindfulness, relaxation, music therapy, aroma therapy, behavioral therapy, cognitive therapy, sleep, exercise, healthy diet/lifestyle, reading assignments, etc. You will develop into a well-rounded, healthier person both mentally and physically under Travis’s guidance. Travis fosters trust in his clients through providing them with a safe and comfortable environment in which to open up during sessions. Additionally, he incorporates just the right amount of humor to put you at ease. Even on my darkest days, Travis has at least gotten me to crack a smile. I am an extremely private person and find it difficult to open up about personal topics. Travis has been very compassionate and patient with me and lets me talk about things at my own pace. My disease has resulted in a severe speech impairment, and thus there are times that I really struggle to clearly articulate my thoughts. Travis has been so understanding when this happens and knows exactly when to turn on my favorite playlist for some relaxing music therapy when my ability to speak begins to decline. Travis creates a secure and welcoming atmosphere for his clients during sessions, and thus he is one of the few people who I feel comfortable talking to even when my speech becomes extremely distorted. Particularly for those of you who are anxious to start therapy because you find it difficult to open up, I highly recommend Starting Point Mental Health as a safe and soothing environment in which you can learn to do so at your own pace and find the help that you need. Travis will mindfully guide you step by step through your own mental-health journey to emerge as the person you desire to be. I certainly am not the same person I was when I first stepped into his office.
