I went to Calvary for a long time. I served in the production ministry for several years. I was very involved in church, but began to feel disappointed in the direction the church was moving in. I'm not going to say bad things about Pastor Mark, but he was the biggest reason I quit attending. I've been gone for about 3 or 4 years now. I've tried out other churches, but just did not feel at home there. I knew Pastor Mark was gone, but I had reservations about returning to Calvary. The last 9 or 10 months of my life have been devastating, though. I've struggled with depression, anxiety, having covid and feeling near death, as well as many life altering after effects it has left me struggling with. The biggest struggle I've been dealing with has been anxiety. It has literally brought me to my knees. Many years ago I struggled with addiction to alcohol. I already had God and Jesus in my life, but I wasn't ready to turn my battle over to God. When I did, he removed alcohol from my life. This last year, I've been brought to my knees several times, and God was there to hold me in His arms and comfort me. Recently, I prayed to God to bring people into my life that could nourish my soul and spirituality. Again, I got down on my knees and prayed for God to remove something from my life that was attacking my faith. That was the anxiety. I felt God urging me to return to Calvary. So, last Sunday, I went to church. I was so nervous and feared the anxiety so much, that I didn't make it in the building, but I sat in my car in the parking lot and listened online. The words Pastor Kevin spoke felt as though God were speaking to me directly. They were words that I needed to hear, to address my questions and fears. I sat in my car and wept, but a profound peace came over me. I knew instantly I was where I needed to be. I even signed up for a small group. God has led back to Calvary. Since returning, God has really been helping with my anxiety. When I become fearful, I begin to pray, or listen to worship music. It really helps. I have released it to God. Even though I only sat in my car and listened to one sermon, that sermon has been life changing. Please tell Pastor Kevin that his words really helped me. I will be back to Calvary. I work this weekend, but I'll be listening online. I will be coming to the prayer time on Monday. I will make it through those doors this time because God is holding my hand. Thank you, all of you, for bringing God back into my life even stronger this time. He is good! Amen!

Admittedly, I have never been to this church and I am sure the services are full of enlightening scriptures to help you get closer to God. I’m also hopeful that the scriptures lead to how we need to live by example. Being a Christian means helping people in need if it’s within our reach. With that said, the church recently made a very questionable decision regarding parking on their site. Some Viera Charter School parents have been temporarily parking at the church for student drop-offs/pickups to alleviate congested traffic and to get to work on time. Certainly not ideal but works for some of these parents. The church has reminded us that we are not allowed to park on their property. This is well within their right to do so and we will stop. However, I feel this a missed opportunity to work close with a community in need. If the community can’t rely on your church for simple things such as parking during off hours, then I guess we’ll stick to lip service on Sundays.
