Yuletide Village was a half mile of light displays with many charming characters represented. The train garden was a great finale.

The Upperco Fire Company and Boring Volunteer Company have merged and have been supported by their communities for a long time, and they perform a vital service to the community. But they have taken an adverse position to the interests of the community that they serve lately. They have submitted a request to rezone the Boring Fire Hall property from a resource conservation zoning to light industrial to a developer who also happens to be the president of the Hanover Road Association. Note that the Hanover Road Mission statement mentions “preserve rural character” of the community within its mission statement. The community feels betrayed by the Fire Hall, Hanover Road association, and Baltimore County Councilman Wade Kach. I don’t understand how a volunteer Fire Company whose sole purpose is to serve and protect its community can reasonably expect to retain community support. I find it very disturbing that they can’t figure this out after experiencing all the opposition within the various public meetings. Given they depend on the support of the community, they will have to earn back good will from the community they serve. Hopefully they’ll soon realize that they need to find middle ground with the community before compromised community support affects their quality of service to the community.
