Beware- Customers using a MasterCard gift card combined with debit card for purchases and returns beware- I returned 2 items to the Fort Myers Chico’s in the amount of $69.80. Unaware at the time $69.80 was refunded to the MasterCard gift card instead of my debit card. My debit card should have been given the primary return ($69.80) because it held the majority of the purchase price. But it wasn’t. Chicos customer service advised me they could not issue my refund. Advised me to report the MasterCard lost and no longer available. Every attempt to MasterCard has no results whatsoever. I’ve hit a dead end. I am at fault for not keeping an eye on the return transaction at Chico’s. However, Chico’s could have issued the refund to my debit card easily. They really should have. Under the circumstances they should have given me the choice. Plain and simple I am out money, and the merchandise. Update- 1/10/2022 Customer service requested I respond and provided (the same) contact phone number. 1 1/2 hours on hold. I wish for them to call me because getting through to customer service has been impossible. 1/25/2022 Yesterday two calls to Chico’s customer care. First time was incorrect advise. 2nd call the representative knew what to do. Finally the necessary paperwork was sent to Chico’s financial department. I’m told to expect a call today. Well, that never happened. Update - April 19, 2022. This has been a hard pill to swallow. The moral of the story is … if you make a purchase with a (visa , MasterCard etc) gift card combined with other means of payment and then have to make a product return, make sure the return money does not go on your gift card if at all possible. The retail store is more than happy to take their merchandise back and mess with your money.
