Top places to paddle in NC! Well marked buoy trail to camp sites. Canoe rentals available. They also have a drive-to campground with showers/bathrooms but not on the water. Can get busy on the weekends and holidays. There’s no swimming and can get hot so best time is Spring and Fall.

Beautiful and so relaxing. So much to learn there. Took a canoe and went around the lake and saw deer, frogs, all kinds of turtles, snakes, birds, fish, but unfortunately no alligators.

This was a lightly used (maybe 30% occupancy?) NC state park when we stayed. Note: Google Maps found the visitor center, but could not find the family campground. Sites are separated enough that we could not see our neighbors on each side. Site was easy to back in to with our 23 ft Airstream. And the site was so verdant and lush that our solar was not effective. Site do not have water, electric or dump hook-ups. The one shower (hot water, yes) and rest room facility is in the center of the family camp ground loop and finding the trails to it can be a bit inconvenient without walkin through or on the edge of someone's campsite. There are lots of great trails, and canoes and kayaks to rent. It is a beautiful state park and not far from Edenton, Elizabeth City (both fun to visit) or Virginia.

Absolutely beautiful park with awesome hiking trails. I can't wait to put my canoe in the water. This time of year makes it even better with all of the vibrant colors!!

No Dog park or scoop the poop containers. You can walk the trails with your dog & don't forget to bring your own bags. 🐩🐾 I know Newport News park has a dog park.
Yes with license. Watch for gators and snakes too in warm month's
No inflatable nothing should go in that water. Unless you wanna swim with the gators.
No very active you have a better chance of seeing black bear
Yes but you have to make a reservation
Yes there r hiking trails so wear waterproof boots bcuz of alot numerous rainfall Need Sunshine !!!!
I'm not sure if it has a park but it's all nature trails n canoeing
Yes, at the visitor center.
Yes you can, you actually dont have to register what you bring but you are limited to using something with paddles, the pond is full of trees and lily pads i cant imagine even a troller motor doing very much in that mess.
Yes there are public designated bike trails
Not very, it's still a little cool and water temperature is still low. They are not active until things warm up better
A bad day fishing beats a good day at work anytime. That being said, the fishing at the Mill Pond is above average. Great near the spillway.
No there is not
Nice site's, the big site's are able to have multiple tents as for a family that wants to have a site together instead of each individual site.
Not to be smart but you can look up or Google Merchants Mill pond in Gates, NC it'll tell you everything you need to know & you can go to you tube to watch videos of the alligators in the pond
