Worked there for many years and with my experience as one of the few female officers working Death Row , General Population and UNIT 1 was the most interesting experiences of a life time. It takes a certain personality to work with these people and I’m not just talking about the inmates. You have to demand respect from the beginning and also be a person of your word. GO IN ,DO YOUR JOB, LEAVE, AND YOU SHOULD FARE WELL. 😉

I listen to the news about correction officers being attacked by prisoners. Some of which have been working in this profession for years. I will say this, it is very uunfortunate. As people are just simply trying to work and make a living. Now... I have been on the other side. I had to serve my time for my crimes back in 2012. I visited look correctional for processing and finished my term in a green clothes camp out of Richmond. The inhumanity inside of Polk prison. I get it..its not meant to be a vacation. But a lot of the issue remain with the correction officers. And I can say there is a lot of wrong doing by the C.Os and the higher ups. Fighting and inmate for fun. Ordering everyone to attention at 2am beside their bunks to listen to story's about how God isn't real. And how he beat his wife because she believes in the lord. I have witnessed abuse and violence from the correction officers more than I did from the inmates the!selves. I have even met a C.O that was activity participating in gang activity. He only showed his gang tats when he entered an area that wasn't accompanied by someone who mattered when it came to his job. Cruelty to inmates is real when it comes to prisons. Its detention... The punishment is served to inmates by the C.O.s not the regulations and rules.
