Needing a new roof is a stressful situation to say the least. Shane Donavant from Roofwerks was there to guide us through the whole process. He answered all of our questions before, during, and after roof/gutter installation. Our roof/gutters were scheduled and installed just two weeks after accepting estimate. Shane even came out and patched a bad section of our roof to prevent further damage before our install. The crew was very respectful of our home and animals. We could not be happier with the finished product!

Our roof was 14 years old and had been patch repaired many times over the years in an effort to fix ongoing leaks. Fred Medlin and his team at roofwerks did an excellent job for us and we would highly recommend them to anyone who is in need of a roof replacement or for the repair of an existing roof...or any other related services. Some of the things we appreciated the most through the relationship were: 1) Fred's transparency and honesty at initial discussion, 2) The fact that Fred was onsite the morning that the work began to review the materials that were delivered and ensure they were to our satisfaction, 3) Fred's willingness to answer every S-I-N-G-L-E question we had (he has a lot of patience), 4) Fred's proactive approach in keeping us up to date on what the crew was finding on our roof (I do not know what to look for up there!), sharing photos of the progress, and explaining what the crew was doing and why. 5) The crew's attention to detail when preparing our home for work and how thorough they were in cleaning up the worksite afterward. They put down tarps to protect bushes, the patio, and sidewalk on the side of the house. They attended to the grass around the home and ensured that any small debris, nails, etc. were completely removed, and they ensured that the large debris made its way into the construction dumpster that they brought onsite. Color me impressed! Of note, three other homes in our neighborhood recently had their roofs replaced as well. It was obvious to us that roofwerks' approach was far superior to those of the vendors that were selected by our neighbors. Not just in the care taken to ensure our home was respected, but also in the product materials, and workmanship on the roof itself. We feel roofwerks gave us a far superior outcome. We are thankful to have partnered with roofwerks on this investment. We are extremely happy with our new roof and expect it to provide leak-proof protection for many years to come. Thank you Fred and the roofwerks crew!!

My roof was completely replaced by Roofwerks with Shane as my project supervisor. I can’t say enough accolades about him and his crew. They went above and beyond with costumer service and cleanliness during the whole process. They had extra shingles and took the initiative to re-shingle our shed as well. Shane was so communicative and present during the whole process. What could have been a very stressful construction situation ended up being an easy breezy roof replacement. I give this company and Shane in particular a 20 out of 10!

Questions & Answers

How Can I Find the Exact Location of a Leak?

When dealing with leaks it is important to keep in mind that water wants to find the path of least resistance to travel, which means that your leak could present itself in parts of your house that aren't close to the actual leak. One solution is to go into your attic or crawl space with a flashlight the next time it rains and try to trace the leak. Visible signs, such as pooling water or damaged drywall/building materials should be present. However, this isn't always effective due to walls or other physical obstructions blocking your view. The most accurate way to track the leak is to have a professional come out and access the leak.

What Causes a Roof to Wear Out?

Roofwerks, Inc. | May 21, 2022
Roofwerks, Inc. | May 21, 2022

Most damage that a roof will take on is the direct force of nature. Severe weather, including typhoons, haboobs, hailstorms, snowstorms, and tornados contribute to the degradation of a roof. Algae and mildew, as well as sunlight, can also be a source of roof damage.

Can my roof be repaired or does it need to be replaced?

One of the big questions to ask is the age of the roof. If a roof is older than 15 years it may be time to contact a local contractor to inspect your roof and give their recommendation on how to proceed. Generally speaking cracked, broken and curled shingles can be replaced individually and are often the cause of issues like leaks. Roofs with widespread issues are more likely to need replacing, as the whole roof system may be compromised.

Will a new roof lower my energy bills?

Roofwerks, Inc. | May 21, 2022
Roofwerks, Inc. | May 21, 2022

If your roof is old and underperforming, roof replacement can help lower energy bills. Ideally, an attic should remain close to the outside temperature, but overheating in this space during the summer is a sign of inadequate ventilation. This inadequate ventilation can cause an HVAC system to work much harder than necessary. A new roof helps ensure that your HVAC system can work properly and keep stress off the system causing more power to be consumed.

Should I replace the shingles or the entire roofing system?

Roofwerks, Inc. | May 21, 2022
Roofwerks, Inc. | May 21, 2022

Your roofing system is comprised of several layers, all performing a different function. Generally speaking, replacing the entire system is the best route for improving the roof’s performance. The different layers of a roof can include leak barrier protection, sythetic roof deck protection, starter strip shingles, lifetime shingles, and ventilation.

Can I replace my roof myself?

Roofwerks, Inc. | May 21, 2022
Roofwerks, Inc. | May 21, 2022

In short no. There are projects which can be completed with a DIY mentality, however, due to the dangers of working on ones' roof, completing a roof replacement yourself isn't something that should be attempted. Not only do thousands of Americans die annually from falling from roofs, but you could be violating your roof's current warranty which could wind up costing you down the line.

What is the best time to replace a roof?

Roofwerks, Inc. | May 21, 2022
Roofwerks, Inc. | May 21, 2022

Weather typically plays the largest factor in timing when to get your roof replaced. While contractors work year-round, factors like snow, rain, ice, and sleet can impact how quickly roofers can safely and effectively get their roof finished.

How much does a new roof cost?

Roofwerks, Inc. | May 21, 2022
Roofwerks, Inc. | May 21, 2022

There is no straightforward answer because every roof is different. Roofing contractors consider a few factors when pricing out new roof installations: size, old roof removal, style, shape, materials, and labor. In addition to these factors, your roof could include other features like chimneys, skylights, and vents that need to be factored into the cost. Contact a licensed roofer near you to get an accurate quote.

How often does a roof need to be replaced?

The longevity of your roof will depend on its materials, its installation, and its ventilation. Weather conditions may also impact the life of your roof. A well-constructed roof can last between 12-15 years. Depending on the quality and type of shingles you chose and the underlayment of your roof, that number can go up to 30 or more years.

How do I know if I need a new roof?

Roofwerks, Inc. | May 21, 2022
Roofwerks, Inc. | May 21, 2022

When assessing whether or not to replace your roof the first question that should be asked is "How old is my roof?". Most roofs will last around 15 years but signs that it is time to replace your roof could include: holes in your roof, missing or damaged shingles, or leaks.
