The salesman told me I would receive a check for $15,000 from IRS as soon as I had my solar panels installed. My total for panels and battery was$40,000. I was required to write a deposit check for $23,000, which I did when I signed my contract. I did not receive a copy as I was told the contract needed to be completed at the office. Moasaic would hold my loan for the balance. He did not explain I had a 12 month interest free option. I was told no one would need to enter my home during installation.. on the day of installation I had the flu and was in bed. I heard all this hammering over my head. The crew had gone into my attic, moved items and boxes by picking them up and THROWING them across the attic. I would have certainly prepared the attic space if I knew they needed access. Trophies, pictures, family air looms, glass, crystal and Christmas ornaments were completely destroyed. I was a wreck. They opened doors twice allowing my puppies to get out and run off. We pointed out they were not permitted to just come and go from the house. They ignored us. The puppies were only 6 months old.I received a statement from Mosaic stating my remaining loan amount was $40,000. The deposit check was never documented. When our Internet was upgraded I received a new password. Now I had no way to read what the solar panels were producing or even working. Power Home told me THEY would know if something was wrong. My control panel either doesn’t exist or is locked up in one of the lock boxes. I am supposed to receive technical support twice a year ( of course I have seen anyone in 5 years) where the panels are cleaned and inspected. I use to call them every couple months. I would get an answering machine and it would take weeks for them to call me back if they did at all. My electric bill has gone from $8 to $150. Something is wrong. But these people shut down, then immediately hooked up with Pink, without losing a blip. Mosaic tells me they have no record of my deposit and this new company should give me a decent price adding the things I didn’t get. I already paid. And to boot the brochure says installation is free. CAN YOU HELP ME.??

Sales girl came out and went through rigamoro and then got to the $ she recommended fewer panels than my previous two quotes from other solar companies. And she was $100. More than other two companies and instead of recommending 104. % or 107% to recharge batteries she recommended 60-80% so no banking of unused power I would have a 20-40% duke energy bill. Crazy this company also has a google review of 3.9% lower than any other company I have met with. Just my opinion but anyone would be crazy to go with this company, reviews show 7-8 months and still no working system.rant over but shop around people

DO NOT GET SOLAR PANELS from Powerhome. They have installed solar panels on my roof and I have been waiting months for them to be turned on. Everytime I try to call to get an update I get a voice mail or put on hold to be hung up on. My emails have gone unanswered until they fix their customer service don't buy from them. UPDATE: After writing this review they have contacted me but I have been waiting on a photo for 3.5 months. This photo is stopping the inspection and the next step and for 3.5 months they havent been able to send any one out to take this photo. UPDATE: 8 months later: The project has finally completed, it took another 1.5 months for the photo to be taken and more social media pressure for them to get the project finished. Their financing company is also a pain to deal with as it took multiple phone calls to authorize a single payment. I am glad to be done with this project. DO NOT GET SOLAR PANELS from power home.

Questions & Answers

I heard solar will be better and cheaper if I wait a few years. Is that accurate?

Jennifer Irwin | Sep 18, 2020
POWERHOME SOLAR | Sep 18, 2020

With the 26% federal tax credit on newly-installed solar systems sunsetting at the end of 2020, there has never been a better time to go solar than now. Along with rate increases routinely coming from utility companies, how can you afford to wait?

Why should I get solar panels when I still have to pay an electric bill?

Sadie Kernen | Sep 18, 2020
POWERHOME SOLAR | Sep 18, 2020

Considering that your solar panels should produce a majority of your home’s power needs, that’s money that you won’t have to pay the utility company. Instead of paying the utility company, you pay yourself! Once your panels are paid off, your gain should become even larger.

How does your battery solution work?

Elle Conlen | Sep 18, 2020
POWERHOME SOLAR | Sep 18, 2020

Your battery will be set up to feed power to 4-6 protected loads during power outages. For example, those loads could be your refrigerator, your stove and a few electrical outlets. You cannot do your HVAC; However, given the amount of energy needed to power those units, we also have whole-home generators that run on propane or natural gas and further protect your in-home energy source.

Can I go off the grid with my solar panels?

Audrey Robinson | Sep 18, 2020
POWERHOME SOLAR | Sep 18, 2020

POWERHOME SOLAR can’t take you off the grid, but we can come very close. You get to choose the amount of your electric bill you have offset by solar. We also have battery storage that works in power outages and helps if your utility company charges more for power during certain times of day. You can program your system to run more on battery power to avoid paying the utility company for the extra cost.

Do solar panels work when it’s cloudy?

Cheryl Greene | Sep 18, 2020
POWERHOME SOLAR | Sep 18, 2020

Solar still works on cloudy days, as UV rays still get through the clouds. Think about the last time you got a sunburn on a cloudy day. Those wearing glasses with transition lenses know their glasses get dark on cloudy days too. While sunny days are best, you are not shut out of solar production on cloudy days.

How do solar panels stand up against hail?

Travis Peabody | Sep 18, 2020
POWERHOME SOLAR | Sep 18, 2020

Solar panels are more durable than most roofing materials and are meant to withstand some hail. With that said, you will want to add your solar panels to your homeowners' policy to protect your investment in case of a catastrophic storm.

How much does it cost to remove/replace solar panels when getting a new roof?

James Bertrand | Sep 18, 2020
POWERHOME SOLAR | Sep 18, 2020

There is a cost associated with removing and reinstalling solar panels when you need a new roof, and that cost depends on the number of panels you have. But remember, when the average homeowner can save thousands of dollars with solar over the lifespan of their solar system, that cost for removal and reinstallation should more than pay for itself. If your roof is at the end of its life, it makes sense to get your roof redone before adding solar panels so you avoid that cost. We are also provide roofing services, so we can do both jobs for you.

How do solar panels save you money?

Amanda Quinton | Sep 18, 2020
POWERHOME SOLAR | Sep 18, 2020

Solar allows you to shift spending that you’re already doing to something you can own. You get to choose the average percentage of your power bill that you want offset by solar panels. That cost goes to paying for your panels, and your power bill is reduced as a result. Unlike your power bill, your solar bill has an end date, and when that time comes, you’ll be generating energy that’s completely free to you. In the meantime, because your price for solar is locked in, you insulate yourself from having to pay the seemingly annual rate increases imposed by your utility company. This is how the average solar homeowner can save thousands of dollars over the lifespan of his/her solar system.

How much does solar cost?

Tammy Swanson | Sep 18, 2020
POWERHOME SOLAR | Sep 18, 2020

The price of solar depends on a number of factors, including your current power usage, how much you want your solar panels to offset your total electric bill, and the direction your home faces, to name three. So you see, solar is not a one-size-fits-all option! We would be happy to see if your home qualifies to go solar, and we have a dedicated team that helps with that. Call us at 800-POWER-90.

How do I qualify to go solar?

Marnie Davis | Sep 18, 2020
POWERHOME SOLAR | Sep 18, 2020

There are a number of things that we consider to qualify homes for solar. That list includes knowing who your utility company is, and whether your home gets enough sunlight for solar to be viable. We answer those questions and more in our brief call. Call us at 800-POWER-90
