I was sent here after being in the hospital.. It was not very appealing on the eyes. But all of the staff was really nice. They made me feel comfortable not like a crazy person. One of the staff walked me out to my husband and her words of encouragement helped me out a lot to know what i was feeling was normal and i was not alone but it's okay to seek and get therapy for my Trauma and what i am dealing with in life.... Thank you to the staff of Mary K Shell...

This place is a mental health facility. I donβt understand these low star reviews. What did you guys expect, a 5 star hotel with a daycare? Youβre complaining about the beds and food?! Youβre not there for the beds and food. π worry about your bigger issues.

It's not a rehab. More of a central processing place to put you into the behavioral health system where they think you need to be. Once you are through with their assessment process, you'll be assigned a clinic or behavioral health center of some variety that will be able to prescribe your meds and help monitor you for possible changes if needed. I've been in this system for some years now and the one thing I can easily say is if you make your appointments, the meds are as easy as the pharmacy makes it for you.
Yes Mary Kay Shell can hook her up with Kern behavior health. She needs meds. They are very caring and you need them.
Between 4-72 hours.
There are a few different crisis services offered... if someone is coming to Access/Assessment Center to initiate outpatient services, he/she can come and go as he/she pleases. There is also a Psychiatric Evaluation Center (PEC), for those who are at risk of harming self/others or are so mentally incapacitated, he/she cannot keep self or others safe. If someone is admitted into the PEC, this is a locked unit and he/she will first be evaluated before he/she is allowed to leave... this can take anywhere between 4 and 24 hours. If after thorough evaluation he/she is still determined to be a danger to self/others, he/she will be admitted into an inpatient psychiatric facility/hospital/ward. If he/she has stabilized, he/she will be discharged with a safety plan. There is also the Crisis Walk-In Clinic (CWIC) where someone in crisis, but not in danger of harm to self/others, can be in a safe and supportive environment, he/she is welcome to come and go without restriction.
No but they can help with resources and have good people to talk to...
Has he been seen for mental health?
Can
I do not think so. You can call. Because of privacy laws they may not be able to say.
Yes you can
Mental illness is real and not cured by meditation or Jesus.
She can always take her son to the Access and Assessment center (inside MKS) and he can be assessed to see if he meets criteria for outpatient services. Also some primary doctors can also provide psychiatric and medication services
I understand. At one point i didnt know what to do. Is he
Screening is the 1st step.. walk in, Mon thru Fri from 8a to 3:30p.. accepts Medi-Cal.. if you qualify for svcs, next step is assessment with a therapist, if you then qualify for specialty svcs you will be referred to a treatment team. If you don't qualify you will be referred to a community provider for svcs. 2151 College Ave. Mary K. Shell.
If someone is a harm to themselves or others, they can present themselves to the clinic by KMC.
You need to contact Social Security and see if they can designate a payee.
