The rooms were clean and spacious, especially considering we got a standard queen room and not a bigger suite. The front desk workers were incredibly helpful. The scenery, especially the gazebo and pond in the center of the hotel area, were a very nice touch as well. The only complaints are that the road leading to it is a little confusing and the "complimentary" breakfast is actually $15 per guest, which is incredibly steep given the quality of the good. Don't get me wrong, the food was fine, but they aren't serving high end items.

The outside of the hotel is really nice. The courtyard is peaceful and relaxing with plenty of areas to chill and watch the ducks on the “pond”. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The ability to text the front desk was really nice and they were very responsive. The room was clean and had plenty of space. The restaurant food was great but slightly overpriced. Couple of cons: - The hallways of the hotel had a really bad fish-like odor. It was really uncomfortable to just walk to our rooms as the smell was overwhelming. As to the source of the smell, I’m not sure what it was but it existed on both floors of the hotel. My best guess was the dirty hallway carpet or the ice machines as they had brown stains running from underneath them. The smell went away in our room but we had to make sure to open and shut the door as quickly as possible otherwise it would start to come into our room. - the guest wifi really isn’t worth connecting to. If you want to stream any shows on Netflix, forget it. The tvs weren’t hard wired to the internet either. I can’t imagine what the download speeds would be like if the hotel was full. This wouldn’t be a problem but there is zero cell phone service in the hotel room (Verizon) so you can’t use your phone without Wi-Fi - There’s very little noise cancelling. When people walk by the door, it sounds like they’re in your room. - No food room service available and if you want to have food delivered to your room (think a pizza guy), hotel policy says they can’t deliver to your door and you have to go to the lobby. Not a big deal but I’ve never stayed at a hotel with this policy. - At $200+ a night in Newark Ohio, it’s a little much for what you get.

We spent the night after my mother-in-laws passing and funeral just to get away for the evening for some R&R. We have stayed here before and had just as relaxed of an experience then as we did this time. The room was clean and very comfortable for our family (2 kings and a pull out couch 2 adults and 4 children), the pool and hot tub were very refreshing, the restaurant was out of this world. All in all as a family, we needed this however I think in the future it will just be my wife and myself going for a getaway weekend without the kids 😉

Pros: Surprisingly spacious room and bathroom. Very clean and good sanitizing practices. Cons: Bathroom door doesn't stay closed and there's no lock. The bed frame sticks out quite a bit farther than the mattress -- we hit our shins several times off it. FYI-- there is not a free breakfast here. There's a hot breakfast buffet offered on weekends only. $12.50 per person for adults (I don't know kid pricing). However, there is a pantry on site with a Starbucks.

Wife, myself, and our little, old dog went. It is s vacation-type of place Room was very nice; I think the banquet rooms attract wedding receptions and the like. Certain areas close at set times. This get-away is more than a regular hotel. It is a step above and picturesque. Employees were helpful and cordial. Dog-friendly is a plus and pooch loved the halls and stairs.
